The Dark Amidst the Christmas Lights
A Personal Poem
Heart aches between the pulse of Christmas lights
The beat dampened by unfed children
weak cries of baby empty bellies
caroling commercials insult my brain
feeling helpless to stop the pain
Ukraine Ukraine Ukraine
My head throbs in Gaza and Israel
I can’t stay in my lane
Thank you to the workers, the feeders, the drivers of
sustenance.
Send my gifts to them …we know them
Doctors without Borders
Save the Children
World Central Kitchen
International Red Cross
I pray not all is lost.
