POETRY
The “D” Word
A Deluge of “D” words and my Definition to Describe Divorce

When I was going through my divorce, the word was so painful to me that I had a strong, visceral reaction every time I’d hear it.
I began referring to it as the “D” word.
I was seeing a life coach at the time and she encouraged me to come up with my own definition to reframe its meaning for me. In the process of doing this, I came up with a list of other D words that I described how I was feeling.
Here is the list followed by my definition. I suppose in an odd way, this could be poetry.
