The Cure For A Creative Burnout

From burnout to balance

While others are out having fun, you can be building your empire.

And lose yourself in the process.

I recently wrote an article on creative burnout; It’s right here if you want to read it.

After shedding light on the causes and talking about the effects, I felt terrible for not providing any solution, so I am back again.

Healing takes action, but I promise these are small steps, and they are designed to make you feel better in the long term.

“Same Old Tips” That Still Work

  • Make time for activities you enjoy to restore your energy. Doing what you love makes it harder to take a break; trust me, I know. But a rested mind is a creative mind.
  • Take a break from your work and change scenery. Go for a walk, meditate or work out. Change your inner state by moving your body.
  • Delegate some tasks. General stress can impact your burnout. If you can split some of your tasks with someone else, this is the right time to do it.
  • Drink more water. Being well hydrated is excellent daily, but water also helps to boost your mood (source).

Tips I Follow

Treat weekends as if you work a 9 to 5 job. It’s not mandatory, but this made a massive difference for me.

I used to double down on my work on weekends because “while others are out having fun, you can be building your empire”,…or you could be having the second mental breakdown of the week.

REST! Go to the beach with your friends, take a long walk with your dog, indulge in your favourite book, or retire to your room until you feel better, but don’t think about work.

I found meditation very beneficial, accompanied by calm music and “Sound baths — my dog somehow enjoys the music too; she’s so chilled out!

I’ve been taking my advice and claimed back some of my mental space and energy.

Be patient, rest, and create again. ✨
