Summary

The article discusses Elon Musk's stance on reproduction and population growth, criticizing his advocacy for higher birth rates in the face of climate change and resource depletion.

Abstract

The author of the article expresses concern over Elon Musk's preoccupation with people's reproductive choices, particularly his promotion of higher birth rates despite the pressing issue of climate change. The article argues for a world where individual choices about reproduction are respected and not subject to judgment. It highlights the environmental impact of overpopulation and the significance of maintaining a replacement fertility rate to mitigate climate issues. The author points out that Musk's vision of colonizing Mars may be influencing his views on population growth, suggesting that he benefits from a capitalist system that relies on continuous consumption and resource use. The article also references the opinions of environmentalists and scientists who advocate for smaller family sizes to reduce carbon emissions and resource strain, contrasting sharply with Musk's position.

Opinions

  • The author is critical of Elon Musk's public comments on reproduction, viewing them as an intrusion into personal choices.
  • There is a strong opinion that Musk's interest in population growth is linked to his ambitions for Mars colonization and the need to create a market for it.
  • The article suggests that Musk's perspective on reproduction is out of touch with the environmental realities of climate change and resource scarcity.
  • It is implied that Musk's advocacy for higher birth rates serves the capitalist agenda, encouraging consumption and resource depletion.
  • The author supports the idea that having fewer children is a significant step in combating climate change, citing research on carbon emission savings.
  • The author agrees with experts who recommend maintaining a fertility rate at the replacement level to manage population growth sustainably.
  • There is an opinion that Musk's wealth insulates him from the consequences of the climate crisis, which disproportionately affects the less affluent.
  • The article concludes that Musk's stance on reproduction is indicative of a lack of intelligence and consideration, based on a quote from Dr. Verena Brunschweiger's work on the childfree lifestyle.

The Creepy Reason Why Elon Musk Is Obsessed With Your Uterus

What we do with our reproductive organs is no one's business.

Imagine a world where everyone who wanted children could have them. And anyone who didn’t want children didn’t have them. In this world, what you do with your reproductive organs is your business, and no one passes judgment in any direction.

This same world does not measure people's worth on their parental status. This is a world that celebrates the myriad of lifestyles. Personal choices on reproduction are supported, whatever the angle.

But alas. Sadly, as we all know too well, it doesn’t work like this.

Right-wing governments, in particular, are obsessed with reproduction. We have gone from eugenics to the sexual abuse and forced pregnancies of slaves and on to criminalizing abortions and limiting access to birth control.

Enough already.

I am childfree by choice. I have known my entire life that I do not want children. It really is no big deal. And yet most people make it a big deal and poke their noses in with harmful comments. Ultimately it is no one's business.

Every so often, a highly influential person slanders the childfree and creates waves. A few months ago, it was Pope Francis. More recently, it was Elon Musk via his Twitter account.

He didn’t elaborate though. What exactly is the problem with not having children, Elon Musk?

Despite the catastrophic progression of climate change, Elon Musk thinks there aren’t enough people on the planet!

We are steamrolling ahead into climate oblivion. We are sucking the planet's resources dry. Our population has soared to 8 billion people! To put this in perspective 100 years ago there were less than 3 billion people on the planet.

One very simple long-term solution is reducing our population numbers by keeping reproduction to the replacement rate of 2.1 children per female. This is touted by respected scientists, environmentalists, and naturalists such as Jane Goodall, David Attenborough, Chris Packham, Leilani Munter, and Judy Ling Wong.

But their voices are quiet compared with the overbearing bellow of Elon Musk.

This Guardian article goes where many other climate change articles are too afraid to go. It clearly highlights having one fewer child is the single most significant thing we can each do to help climate change.

According to this Guardian article, having one fewer child per year can save up to 58.2 tonnes of CO2 equivalent per year. By comparison, the next biggest step we can take is to live car-free, which saves 2.4 tonnes of CO2 per year. Recycling saves .21 tonnes of CO2 per year. Avoiding one transatlantic flight per year saves 1.6 CO2 per year. And eating a plant-based diet saves .82 tonnes of CO2 a year.

Important note: Yes, the fertility rates are significantly higher in poorer countries. But this is where consumption plays its role. Please recognize that your average US citizen is responsible for 40 times the carbon emissions as your average citizen in Bangladesh.

In this article Elon Musk states “there aren’t enough people” and that he fears this lack of people is a threat to human civilization!

I’m sorry, come again, Elon Musk! Say, what?

I’m not sure what planet Elon Musk is on, but his comment has more to do with what planet he wants to be on!

Elon Musk has a dream to inhabit Mars. He wants to move people from Earth to Mars. But to make this dream a reality there has to be a need.

For a business to succeed, its very purpose requires a need.

Elon Musk needs planet Earth to be so overpopulated that we need to escape to inhabit a new planet. He needs humans to drain planet Earth dry of all her resources. He needs us to expedite the climate crisis.

Let’s be honest; the climate crisis doesn’t affect him or his.

Money is no object for him. He will be sitting in his ivory tower when the mass exodus of Africa happens due to climate change. Will he accommodate climate refugees in any of his luxury houses? I think we know the answer there.

Elon Musk does not give a flying flamingo if you want children, if you would be a good parent, or if you can give a child a good life. He doesn’t care, as long as you just have them! Use up resources, and embrace a capitalist world. Spend, spend, spend and become his worker ants.

It’s funny really. The more of us who opt out of having children, the better the world will be for the children who are born.

As Dr. Verena Brunschweiger wrote in her fabulous book “Do childfree people have better sex?”

“Intelligent parents grasp the idea of living childfree and the value of this decision for them and their children, first and foremost. Only extremely stupid and inconsiderate parents want everyone else to pop out as many babies as possible too.”

Elon Musk is a parent, and he wants everyone to pop out as many babies as possible, regardless of their desires or circumstances.

Therefore, based on Dr. Brunschweiger’s summary, I can conclude that Elon Musk is extremely stupid and inconsiderate.

I would love to hear your thoughts on Elon Musk.
