The Breaks Are What Make You — Prioritize Your Health

When someone else is sick, I’m the first to say: “Take it easy. Take a day off.

But when I’m sick, I think: “I can push through. If I call in sick I’ll be inconveniencing people. I’ll be fine.”

I know health should be prioritized… in theory. But, in practice I struggle.

Fortunately, I have a partner who pushes me to see the logic in putting on my own oxygen mask before I try to put on the masks of others. They support me by making me see myself how they see me: as someone strong and capable that also deserves breaks. Their gentle reminders remind me to be patient with everyone, including myself.

How do you make sure you’re getting the rest you need?

How do you prioritize your health?
