The Best, Out-Of-This-World Rice Krispie Square You’ll Ever Eat
Because this recipe is a life-changer.
My husband called from the Pacific ocean, where he was on his annual fishing trip with a few good friends.
“I had to call you — your homemade Rice Krispie squares are a huge hit with everyone! People moan and shake their heads when they eat it. We are rationing down to one square a day to make them last.”
I laughed.
He was catching 150-pound fish but he called me about a Rice Krispie square.
I can hear you right now. You’re thinking, “Rice Krispie squares? Who gives a damn about Rice Krispie squares?”
You will, that’s who. Listen. These aren’t any ordinary Rice Krispie squares.
Trust me.
When you make my friend Tina’s recipe (with a little bribery, she gave it to me) — you’re never going back to the old way of making them or worse — buying that expensive, foil-wrapped, horrid tasting, rock-hard crap in a box at the grocery store.
Don’t lie to me — I know you've bought them. We’ve all caved and bought them in a moment of despair. And regretted it.
But after today — your life will be changed. People will beg for your Candy Smash Rice Krispie Squares for every kids party, camping trip, sleepover and football game. They will be at your mercy and many favors will be thrown your way.
You will be the Ruler of The Rice Krispie Square. Forever.
Candy Smash Rice Krispie Squares
Makes one large 9 x 13 pan.
Ingredients:
8 cups dry Rice Krispie cereal
1 large package of white mini-marshmallows
1/2 cup butter
1 cup each of : Nibs, Swedish Berries, Smarties, (or any other candy mixture that floats your boat)
- In a large pot, melt butter on medium heat. Add full package of mini-marshmallows.
2. Stir quickly with a wooden spoon until marshmallows are 2 /3 melted (this is super important — don’t wait until they are all melted. Or you end up with hard-as-rock squares.)
3. Remove from heat and add all of the Rice Krispie cereal. Quickly add all of the candy (this is a great time for kids to pour the candy into the pot.)
4. Spread mixture into a well-buttered 9 x 13 pan and spread evenly. Smooth out top with a buttered spatula. You have to work fast as the mixture cools quickly.
5. Tempting as it may be — leave the Candy Smash Rice Krispie Squares for 30 minutes until they cool to the touch. Then dive in!
