The Art of Knowing When to Keep Your Mouth Closed
Do you ever struggle for just the right words to say?

What do you do when someone you know is in pain? Worse yet, what is it that you should say?
Emotional pain can be some of the hardest pain to deal with. When it’s not our pain, but someone we care about is going through something, we constantly look for the right words to say.
Sometimes, the best thing to say in those situations is to just say nothing. Simply be there for them and let them know you are there; and if they need you to, just stay right by their side.
It’s important for all of us to realize that sometimes there are no right words to say. In fact, by trying so desperately to say the right words, you could end up making things worse.
Certain situations are known for creating this kind of dilemma about how to communicate effectively. Typically, this happens when someone dies, or is critically ill, but there are also lots of other instances when we might find ourselves at a loss for words.
And then, there are instances when we should be at a loss for words.
All it takes, is getting used to the idea that in some cases, there is nothing wrong with simply sitting in silence to show your support.
When you show someone that you’re there for them, they appreciate it. They also get it when you don’t have the right words to comfort them; because in many instances, there just aren’t any words.
Someone suffering from emotional pain needs to know that they have a shoulder to cry on, and loving arms for support.
It is not always about saying the right thing; in fact, offering their silence might be the best thing everyone can do for them for a while.
