The 5-Minute Morning Routine I Used To Get Out of a Low Energy Rut.
Videos of “Rich People Morning Routines” like this are a scam.

From personal experience, these long morning routines left me in a rut of 0 energy.
I accomplished nothing even closely resembling productivity with these routines, instead, they drained me of my energy.
Your morning is the first impression of the day, and we all know from experience how important first impressions are.
Remember:
A poor morning leads to a poor day, A poor day leads to a poor week, A poor week leads to a poor month, A poor month leads to a poor year.
These “energy-optimizing morning routines” threw me into a downward spiral of lower and lower productivity, but it all changed when I applied the 5-minute principle.
The 5-Minute Principle
Don’t start your day with a bad habit.
It might seem too critical but consider the juxtaposition. You could either start your day off with 5 minutes of meditation or 5 minutes of mindless scrolling.
In the grand scheme of the day, 5 minutes is not a significant time investment, but the compounding effects are real.
My 5 minute routine is based on the shock principle which comes in 2 steps:
- Shock the System — For me, this means jumping out of bed and doing 15 burpees, it might sound corny but it works. The jolt of oxygen through my body boosts dopamine levels and sets the stage for a productive day.
- Gratitude Journaling — I have often been one to criticize everyone and everything, and that builds a negative frame of mind. To counter this I write down 2–3 things that I am grateful for today.
If you want to learn more about journaling read this.
It might not sound like much but a boost of oxygen, and 5 minutes of thanking God for being alive and another day to live is more than enough to set you in the right direction.
