The 3 Dumbest Mistakes I Made On My Weight Loss Process
And please don’t do these if you want to have faster results.

As a former fat, aka. Political correctness overweight person,
I can assure you burning weight, getting healthier and in shape is not easy as charlatan coaches sell around,
but it’s also not as hard as you might believe.
After all, aside from the amount of focus you need, and the effort you put in. Some days feel like every little thing around is trying to shake you and undermine your process.
Nowadays, behind lots of struggles, challenges, lessons and efforts, I’m getting closer to the version of me I always wanted, of course, I’m not there yet, but still…
However, even having burned more than 90 kilos already, things didn’t always go smoothly, before finding a way which allowed me to have this transformation, I’ve made mistakes,
hundreds of mistakes which undermined, delayed my progress and cost me time,
And I don’t want you to suffer the same,
So if you want to achieve your health goals faster, you should pay attention.
Among all the mistakes I’ve made, I believe these 3 are the biggest ones which made my weight loss harder.
1. Trying To Find The Perfect Diet
I believe I’ve suffered with this wrong concept longer than any other.
Being overweight for most of my life, I was always on the search trying to find the best diet possible to get in shape,
“What should I eat, what I can’t eat, what is good, what is bad”, things like this.
The idea that If I cut sugar I would lose weight because sugar makes us fat, or that I couldn’t eat normal potatoes only sweet ones because that’s what all the jacked people eat around,
maybe the problem was on eating pizza or burgers because I would regain all the weight lost, (I still believe the yellow cheese and toast with butter are the big villains, love it)
Well, let’s make it simple here:
There is no perfect diet.
It is not a keto diet, intermittent fasting, vegetarian or any special new super secret someone tells you, for sure not those magic shakes where you trade a healthy decent meal for a cup of powder mixed with water and milk which you don’t even know what’s inside and people say will work like magic,
also, not the magic green tea with whatever special inside.
While some of them might help, because of the metabolic effects,
no, there is no program which, if you follow 100% to a T, will solve all your weight struggles.
First, because you will fuck up,
There will be days when you are emotionally destroyed and tired of the sh*t life throws on you, and after that exhausting work day, you just want to send your partner, kids and everyone around to hell sit down and eat the entire chocolate bar after having destroyed a pizza, while binge-watching that stupid series,
there will be.
There will be, and there is nothing you can do about it, except not making a habit out of it.
Second, because the secret for a good diet, is not on what you eat,
it’s actually on how you eat.
One of the biggest challenges for overweight people is “Emotional Eating”, to deal with this, you need to control yourself and eat for the right reasons,
not because you’re bored, or because your routine and cycles tell “it’s time to eat”, that is bad,
also, you don’t need to have a perfect diet to lose weight,
A balanced diet is the solution.
Calorie Deficit, and a Well Balanced diet.
(In the end of this article you can find a guide to a balanced diet and how to deal with emotional eating.)
The second big mistake was:
2. Having Wrong Reasons
For a long time of my fat life, all I wanted was to lose some weight and to get in shape.
I used to believe that by doing that, I would be more lovable, my body would look sexier and girls would fall on top of me like leaves in autumn,
That If I got in shape I would love myself more, people would accept me better, this would make me more like what the society asks for the “pattern”,
and my life would get easier, people would stop mocking me, and I would finally be able to live in peace.
Well…
While some of those things actually happened, and getting in shape helps in a lot of other areas in life,
Those reasons are all weak foundations to build something so important, such as your health.
Most of those ideas come from external sources and motivations,
some of them are just excuses based on stuff that people said to you, and it won’t sustain your change in the long run.
Nowadays, I have the mentality that the only reason you should ever have to get healthier, lose weight, and become your fittest version,
It is to take care of your Body and Mind.
All the others are secondary or external.
You don’t do it, because you want to get more sex, or because you want to look hotter in the mirror, fit inside some piece of clothing, or any of those weak justifications.
You do it, to take care of your two most trusted partners in life.
Your Body and your Mind.
All the rest is nonsense sales motives.
3. Wanted An Easy and Fast Solution.
Honestly, I believe this is actually what I see the most people doing wrong.
Especially on the internet where you go on Google, Quora, etc., and there are a thousand variations of “how to lose weight and get in shape fast?” or “how to lose 50 pounds in 10 days”, and all this kind of stuff.
This is highly misleading.
The thing is, when we talk about losing weight and getting healthier, you will never “be done” with it.
Taking care of yourself is a never ending process.
There are days you will do more, days you’ll do less, but you will have to put work every day.
A fast and quick solution will never last a lifetime, because they are a quick fix, not a change.
Even some people who do surgeries for weight loss which literally take a piece out of themselves, per example,
If the mindset and lifestyle of that person doesn’t change, after a while it looks like they’ve done absolutely nothing, and they gain all the weight back.
Look for an easy and fast solution for your health and weight challenges, is the biggest harm you can do to yourself.
You need to build day after day.
To change your bad self-destructive habits, for healthy ones, to form habits and actions which will lead you to the change and lifestyle you want, which will allow you to achieve your fitness goals,
And this doesn’t happen in 5 minutes or from day to night,
It’s an everyday battle, with lots of highs and lows, to build a healthy routine.
Remember:
- Have a balanced, not perfect diet.
- The reason is to take care of your Body, Mind and Self.
- Quick Fixes Never Last.
