The 10 Best Fitness YouTube Channels I’ve Ever Subscribed To
Genuine science-backed diamonds in the cesspool of misinformation
YouTube is a goldmine of information and unfortunately, misinformation as well. And it’s easy to fall prey to the latter.
But if you can wade through the cesspool of pseudoscience and uncover those rare legit advice diamonds, you can learn a lot — YouTube alone has contributed to over 90% of my fitness knowledge.
The good news is that I’m going to save you the dirty work. After years of splashing in the murky waters of YouTube fitness content, I’ve uncovered quite a few truly valuable channels.
I want to share 10 such channels with you. Had I found these earlier, I could’ve avoided some really costly mistakes and drastically sped up my progress.
The past can’t be changed, so I couldn’t. But you can — here are the channels in no particular order.
Jeff Nippard
Jeff Nippard has carved a niche for himself in the YouTube fitness community by making super high quality and research-heavy videos.
Unlike the traditional content mill fitness YouTuber that posts a gazillion videos every day, Jeff posts only once every month or 2 weeks — but emphasizes quality and crams an incredible amount of value into each video.
Primarily a natural bodybuilder and powerlifter, Jeff’s videos are focused on the myriad aspects of building muscle, gaining strength, and losing fat.
Alpha Destiny
Alex Leonidas who runs this channel is an extremely knowledgeable all-around athlete — calisthenics, muscle-building, strength training, endurance, etc.
He centers his videos around one major thing — making the most out of your body naturally. It was Alex that motivated me to cease being a muscle-building gym rat and try the other disciplines.
What makes him unique is his unconventional style of training — while everyone’s playing around with fancy machines, he swears by the good old barbells, dumbbells, and basic machines. His workout videos are an absolute treat to watch.
Another thing is that he posts frequently — almost every single day. And while his videos are all-encompassing, strength training tends to be the frequent focus.
Jeremy Ethier
When I first came across Jeremy Ethier, he was shy of 10k subscribers but the production quality and the amount of research that went into every video blew me away.
He’s now sitting at 3.5M+ subscribers and the quality has only gone up since then. Like Jeff Nippard, Ethier draws heavily on research and uses beautiful infographic animations.
But unlike Jeff, he doesn’t talk about strength training and focuses solely on the muscle building and fat loss side of things.
Fitness FAQs
With an ASMR voice and a shredded physique, Daniel Vadnal posts aesthetically pleasing and super-informative videos on this channel.
Primarily focused on Calisthenics, Daniel marries in elements of lifting weights as well to create a holistic approach to building muscle and strength.
One of the first things that’ll strike you is the impeccable textbook form he uses in every single one of his videos. In fact, it was Daniel that inspired me to permanently ditch ego-lifting and adopt clean form.
Antranik DotOrg
A relatively smaller channel with under 100k subscribers, Antranik posts excellent videos centered around functional fitness — stretches, bodyweight movements, core strengthening, and the like.
Just like Fitness FAQs, Antranik lays a strong emphasis on form and his form instructional videos are probably the best you’re going to find. So are his bodyweight exercises’ progression videos.
Omar Isuf
With his chippy upbeat personality and witty humor, Omar’s videos are as much entertaining as informative.
Primarily a natural powerlifter that’s also dabbled with bodybuilding and strongman, his videos cover strength training, muscle building, and fat loss.
Unlike Jeff and Jeremy, he doesn’t delve deep into the science and instead of using animated infographics, prefers the good old whiteboard.
He also draws a lot from personal experience and has lately been moving away from clickbaity repetitive content towards collaborations, discussions, and expert interviews.
Brian Alsruhe
Brian is an absolute tank — big as a bear, strong as a crane, tireless as an ant, and agile as a cat. And this is thanks to his style of training which like Alpha Destiny’s Alex is unique and unconventional.
Despite explosively moving heavyweights, his form is textbook perfect and rest times are low. By using his trademark technique ‘Giant Sets’, he manages to keep his workouts short and highly intense.
As a highly experienced strength and conditioning coach, his advice is top-notch — the likes of which I haven’t seen on all of YouTube.
Calisthenic Movement
This is Fitness FAQs 2.0 with the only difference being that — it is run by 2 jacked and shredded dudes as opposed to just one.
Jokes aside, Sven and Alex that run this channel are experienced physiotherapists and trainers. Like Daniel, their content is centered around calisthenics and they also heavily advocate good form.
In addition, CaliMove also covers things like fixing posture, relieving physical pains, and improving flexibility. All in all, this channel is like a hybrid of Antranik and Fitness FAQs.
Scott Herman fitness
With decades of experience under his belt, Scott Herman is an OG that’s been in the YouTube fitness game since 2009.
His content is mostly focused on exercise selection, workout plans, and form instructional videos with the occasional reviews, callouts, and personal stuff peppered in.
In fact, his library of instructional videos is so vast that you can probably find one for every single exercise in existence. He posts twice a week and true to what he claims — no pseudoscience or unnecessary drama.
It was Scott’s videos that taught me to overlook the fluff and stick to the fundamentals of working out.
Sean Nalewanyj
Sean sticks true to his claim, “No B.S evidence-based muscle building and fat loss advice.” Another impressive trait of his is that he doesn’t cower away from calling out people, even highly influential ones that spew bad advice.
Almost everything I’ve learned about cutting (or losing fat) Sean has taught me. Sean has also saved me from buying tons of worthless supplements so I am really thankful to him.
In his videos, he cuts straight to the point so they’re perfect for people that are looking for quick no-fluff information. He’s also very articulate and objectively talks about all the sides of an argument before giving his advice.
All in all, a super honest guy who makes videos with the genuine intent to provide value.
That’s all for my list, which YouTubers are your favorites? I’d love to know.
