That’s just Nuts — Lowering Your Cholesterol Naturally?!

Ever wonder what small, perhaps insignificant, changes you can make that lead to potentially large results?

My husband and I do our best to live a healthy lifestyle; however, we aren’t perfect by any means. There are always ways we can learn, grow, and improve. Often reading various articles studies & books, listening to podcasts, taking courses and/or trainings, life experiences of trial and error, watching YouTube videos and Documentaries, etc., we are always interested in learning more about how to improve our health, wellness, lifestyle and anything else we can. We love sharing what we learn and hope it helps the people willing and interested in listening.

A book we often refer back to is How Not To Die by Dr. Micheal Greger. If you prefer audio, Dr. Greger reads it himself and does a nice job in my opinion. Regardless of visual or audio, it truly is a great resource. The book and the website it supports are both loaded with an incredible amount of research absed information. Forinstance, he explains that Brazil nuts just might Save Your Life! Just 4 Brazil Nuts a month can help lower your cholesterol!

Back in Upstate New York I had many Amish clients who came for massage and also appreciated my Holistic approach, nutritional interests (as did most the rest of my clients), and there was one Amish gentleman in particular who asked if I knew anything that might help his Cholesterol levels. Of course, I reminded him (as I do all my clients) that I am not a Medical Doctor, before mentioning Brazil nuts. I also referred him to the research and Dr Greger’s book. This client decided to try this and was so happy about his results! Next time I saw him (a couple months later) he told me that not only did he lower his Cholesterol, he was no longer taking medication!!!

Nuts & seeds are an important nutrient rich food group that are typically affordable and easy for most people in the United States to add in year round. Brazil nuts in particularly are high in Selenium which is an important trace mineral, and has many additional health benefits; however, it is important to be careful how much Selenium you consume as well. Some of the remarkable benefits of selenium were proven by Dr. Joel Wallach — founder of Youngevity and author of many books including Dead Doctors Don’t Lie, which is also a great read for anyone interested.

As a wellness professional (massage therapist, herbalist, aromatherapist, health coach, yoga instructor, etc.) and an advocate for a balanced healthy lifestyle through eastern and western medicines, I kindly suggest that you not be afraid to ask questions and/or advocate for yourself while seeking medical advice from your health care & wellness team of professionals. We all as individuals, and as various health and wellness professionals and even various styles of medicine, have our strengths and weaknesses, and your well-being should be top of mind.

***Please, always be sure to consult your Primary Health Care Provider (A Licensed Medical or Osteopathic Doctor, NP, PA, etc.) before trying anything new or making drastic changes to diet, lifestyle, exercise, etc. especially if you have any underlying conditions.***

*I feel it should be noted that I do not obtain a benefit from recommending Dr Greger or Dr Wallach. Although I do take a variety of supplements, including Youngevity (and have sold Youngevity in the past but not currently), I am providing the above information with no links to personally benefit me*
