That’s Enough Monkey Business — Stop!

March Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Movement”

Manoeuvring mischief mongers on the move

On one of our road trips from Delhi to Jaipur, we stopped at someplace in between for snacking and tea. We were enjoying the sudden nip in the air and the Aravalli range.

Basking in the afternoon late autumn sun and snuggling my windcheater, I got occupied clicking pictures.

Just then, I could locate a dog (wish I could take the picture!) barking and chasing a tribe of monkeys who just snatched a pack of popcorn from a local bystander nearby.

The man raised his voice and pointed a wooden stick held in his arm trying to frighten the creatures resembling humans.

Paying no heed to dog barks and high human voices, the monkeys reached the tree and got all occupied gaily swinging from one branch to another chattering gleefully.

The dog was gaping in excitement at the seemingly deliberate rejection of its being by its opponents. It was madly jumping hoping to catch hold of one of its Simian contenders.

A lot of ‘movement’ was going on around and the atmosphere was getting hotter by the whoops, and screeches of the Simian creatures versus barks of the Canine creature.

There were some tiny visitors who also took a break along with their parents during the journey. The menace mongers saw those kids holding eatables and started charging and creating nuisance.

The scared kids started yelling at the top of their voice. The situation was slowly getting unmanageable. Our snacks and tea also arrived.

Not sure about the outcome, I instantly threw some snacks at a distance to divert the attention of the monkeys. And that trick helped, actually!

The monkeys got driven to the ‘bait’ and almost all the visitors quickly left the place.

Hearty thanks Mary and your SWPSC team for such a lovely space and for the amazing March prompt ❤
