Summary

Sanghita Pal reflects on the concept of movement through a personal experience at the historical Neela Gumbad in Delhi, capturing the essence of both natural and mechanical motion in a photograph, and connecting it to the Six Word Photo Story Challenge on "Movement" for March.

Abstract

While visiting the Neela Gumbad, a significant Mughal architectural site in Delhi, Sanghita Pal was inspired by the bustling activity and the various forms of movement around her. She observed the flow of traffic, the flight of pigeons, and the daily gathering of community members, which led her to contemplate the dynamic nature of life. This moment prompted her to recall the SWPSC's monthly challenge themed around "Movement," and she found herself deeply connected to the vibrancy of the season and the community of writers participating in the challenge. Pal's encounter with the theme extended beyond the visual to encompass the sensory experiences of her body, the rhythm of life, and the gratitude she felt for the opportunity to express and share her experiences.

PHOTOGRAPHY, LIFE EXPERIENCE, GRATITUDE

Noting Natural and Mechanical Movement, I Find…

March Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Movement”

…Dynamic Nature to be More Vibrant

The other day, I was passing by one of the exquisite historical and major Mughal architectural sites of Delhi, Neela Gumbad [Neela (means blue) Gumbad (means dome)].

While I was clicking this picture, I could identify a lot many ‘movement’ in this frame-to-be-frozen.

The super-busy crossroads was full to the brim, with bikers, buses, autorickshaw pullers, cars moving to their destination.

I could also see the two pigeons in flight with the remaining flock in the branches of the tree just in front of the Neela Gumbad attending the majlis.

Majlis are ‘sitting places’ where community members gather to discuss local events and issues, exchange news, receive guests, socialize and be entertained.

I was wondering what they could be discussing!

In addition, I could discover interestingly some other set of movements as well:

# My body was in an automobile

# My hands holding the handphone in action

# My lips smiled

# My eyes witnessed a timeless memory

# My skin got goosebumps

# My nose smelled Spring

# My ears registered the natural chirping of birds and the mechanical sounds of automobiles

# My tongue tasted happiness in abundance (I just finished drinking a sweet and salty lemonade…wink…wink)

# My heart swelled with gratitude

…and then I readily remembered the ongoing SWPSC prompt ‘Movement’.

The traffic came to a halt…

I looked at my watch. It was ticking like our heartbeat…unceasingly.

The traffic started moving after a while…

…and life too moved on…it would as it’s dynamic!❤
