That Moment Shall Come

Poetry June Challenge Day 8

Photo by Kerri Shaver on Unsplash

That moment shall come later or soon,

I shall be shrouded in plain white linen,

I can’t take away any material I own,

None, not even my dearest one shall accompany me, I shall leave to a new world, and live there alone for eternity,

Even with eyes closed, I can see what’s happening around, Yet! I can’t respond,

Memories of my life in this world shall flash

Harsh words I spoke in anger shall ringer in my ear — The cause of broken hearts and relations, My eyes shall plead for one last chance to see my dear ones I lost by those virulent words, When they nowhere to be seen, my brain shall remind me what I had spoken, I had asked them never to see my face again,

I shall ponder over my behavior with neighbors and fellow humans, In this world, I disliked and disconnected them for they were not my equal in wealth, race, beauty, power and strength,

Angels of death hovering over my coffin shall pose to me, this question From all that hatred you had for someone for some stupid reason — saying, the color of their skin is black not white, What did you gain? All hatred, enmity and evil was only a burden that caused your heart to fail very soon, reducing your normal lifespan…

Thank God! I am still alive, That moment has not yet come, But it shall, Later or soon,

I will pay my due apologies to all I will fill love and kindness in my heart, to make it light, So I live a long, healthy and peaceful life…

Chirag @ 2020

In memory of George Floyd and so many brothers\sisters who were victims of injustice and inhuman\irrational\unreasonable killings.

That moment shall come, Your every killer\perpetrator shall taste death later or soon, Their injustice toward you alone is enough to take you to heaven…
