Taliswomen
Iconic Women Have Always Been My Magic-Charm-Obsessions

I don’t remember learning the word “talisman,” but luck, magic, and fate have always been big themes in my life and I’ve always been a voracious reader, so I would have learned it young.
It wasn’t until I was older that I became cognizant of the “man” part of the word and balked. No man had ever brought me luck — in fact, my experience had been quite the opposite.
Iconic women had always been my magic-charm-obsessions, my Taliswomen. When I was a little girl it was Dolly Parton & Olivia Newton-John, but every era of my life has had its own pantheon of Taliswomen. My current project commemorates 50 of them. They range from Mary Shelley to Beyonce, and I wouldn’t be the woman I am without them.
