Tagmania
Twice so far today…
I was about to get off the computer to make some lunch earlier today when I noticed that I got tagged by one of my favorite Mediumites, Ann Litts . Now, many hours later I came back to answer that tag when I saw that I was also now tagged by Susan Brearley . I guess I have my work cut out for me tonight…
First of all I should mention that I am not particularly fond of the actual game of tag that children play. It involves running. Being an old person, my motto is; Why run when you can walk? My two granddaughters love to play tag and they order me to play with them. Being an obedient grandpa, I comply to the best of my ability. Since I don’t run I am an easy catch. Tagging them is really, really hard since I don’t run. I have to rely on trickery and deceit. I can run for about four or five feet so I have to lure them towards me. It’s frustrating and exhausting.
On the writing platform we are all on, which shall remain nameless, playing tag is much easier and can be played sitting in a nice soft ergonomic desk chair. Thank goodness!
So, in a state of relaxed comfort I will now endeavor to answer the questions I was tagged with by Ann:
- Starting with a softball question: Who’s your favorite writer?
Tom Robbins. I pick him not only because he is a genius artist when it comes to prose but also because his books have played many roles in my own life. (I, of course, have countless other favorite writers. I also have many favorite writers here on the nameless platform upon which I write but I am afraid to list them because I’m afraid I will accidentally leave one of them off my list.)
2. If you found out that writer was secretly awful, would you still like their art?
Yes.
3. If someone told you they’d really seen aliens and wanted your help, what would you do? (Asking for a friend.)
I would be 100% supportive. I’ve heard countless thousands of alien stories. My advice would be to stay out of fear and remain open to messages on any level.
4. What’s your favorite TV show? I’ve watched everything and am looking for entertainment because I’m a bottomless pit.
It has been around 15 years since I’ve had access to TV in my home. I generally don’t miss it at all but every so often I like to be passively entertained (with no running involved) so a few times a year I will check out a TV series on DVD from the local library. I’ve found that binging a TV series without irritating commercials and viewing it in consecutive order is far, far better than actually watching a series on TV as it comes out. Recently I binge-watched the first three seasons of This Is Us. I was seriously impressed, mostly because of the incredible writing. It may be one of the best TV shows I’ve ever watched, which may not be saying much since I’ve watched so very little. I really don’t know what all I’ve missed. (Suggestion: if you watch this series it is imperative that you start at the beginning and watch it in order.)
5. Do you practice mindfulness in some form?
I try to practice it in as many forms as possible and as often as I can. I also like to practice mindlessness.
6. What’s the most revealing thing you’re willing to share about yourself because you realize the ego is just a construct?
Around 40,000 years ago I volunteered to be part of an epic experiment involving human evolution. The soul-group that has been conducting this experiment will be holding a meeting ‘soon’ to decide whether or not to continue the experiment.
7. How do we make the world more peaceful?
I’ll just reiterate Ann Litts’ answer, “Let peace begin with me.”
8. What do you think love is for?
There are human connotations of love; mental, emotional, spiritual. Then there is unconditional love; what the universe is created out of. Human concepts of love are our attempts to reconnect to the unconditional love of the Creator that we were created from, thereby realizing our place in the universe. Love is not “for” something. It “is” everything.
9. What’s the best article you’ve read on Medium in the last month?
Golly gee whiz. I’ve read a lot of them. There was one that stands out in my mind but I can’t remember the title. I do remember that it was written by Lindsay Lonai Linegar . Seriously, after finishing reading it I immediately had to read it again to get another dose of it.
10. If you had to get out your phone and send an email of gratitude right now, who would you send it to and what would it say?
I don’t have a smart phone so I can’t send out emails except on my laptop. I do very little emailing. My preferred method of sending out gratitude is through psychic heart communication. I do that a lot throughout the day. I expect nothing, no communication in return. Most of those receiving psychic gratitude heart emails from me have no idea they are getting them. Thankfully, a lot of those people receiving my psychic heart communication are right here on this unnamed platform so I can also clap like a madman. Both of these communication techniques are my way of paying it forward with no expectation other than hoping the gratitude continues to be paid forward.
To paraphrase a certain Beatle, ‘I hope I passed the audition.’
