Switzerland Should Support Ukraine More

Volodymyr Zelensky has been trying to fend off the incoming Russian invaders, but as winter approaches, the fight will start to slow down. Zelensky will go to other foreign governments and look for aid. He has already gone to other foreign governments and asked for help in Ukraine.
Foreign governments have been willing to give aid to Zelensky without him asking for it. For example, back in July, Germany attempted to purchase a Leopard 1 tank from Switzerland in order to use it in the war in Ukraine. Unfortunately, this request was in fact denied by the Swiss government. The Swiss government would not allow Germany to export its weapon materials to Ukraine.
Zelensky has spoken with the Swiss government, and after the Swiss government denied the purchase of the Leopard 1 tank, he spoke over video with the Swiss parliament. The Swiss government has been supporting Ukraine ever since 2014, when the Russian Confederation helped Crimea. Switzerland had helped with healthcare, energy efficiency, and even the private sector.
The Swiss government tries to help those who are in need of aid and those who are in armed conflict areas. Switzerland’s SDC and SECO have helped with the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. Switzerland is currently trying to send more money for humanitarian aid in Ukraine. After being criticized for its response to the Ukrainian invasion, Switzerland has promised to send more money to Ukraine.
Back in April, in Geneva, Switzerland promised to give 2 billion dollars worth of aid to the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. 1.8 billion Swiss francs would be about the same as 2 billion US dollars. 650 million dollars of this money would be used in order to help Ukraine rebuild itself after the war. Ukraine has been criticized for not sending weapons to Ukraine, but Switzerland cannot send weapon materials to Ukraine.
But this is changing, and now Switzerland is allowing other countries to re-export weapon materials. Back in July, the Swiss parliament took a vote in order to reopen the possibility of allowing other countries to re-export Swiss weapon materials. The decision came out in favor of re-exportation. The Swiss parliament made a 22–17 vote in which it decided that it was in fact okay to re-export its materials to Ukraine.
The Swiss government has been criticized for not sending weapons and not being interested in European security, but Switzerland wants to stay neutral. Switzerland still refuses to sell weapon materials to Ukraine and refuses to send military flights to Ukraine. This means that Ukrainians will definitely not be seeing military aid directly from Switzerland.
The Swiss government has kept this dogma that they should always stay neutral. But the truth is that if Switzerland does not support this war and does not support European security, then it will possibly be shamed. The Ukrainians are fighting the largest ground-scale fight in Europe since World War II and will definitely need as much support as they can get.
The US is soon to stop supporting Ukraine, and as the war slows down, Volodymyr Zelensky must look at different options in order to get support for Ukraine. The House in the US is currently looking at the future of America and will probably cut off Ukraine’s vital source of war funds. Zelensky absolutely has to find some sort of peace agreement or find another source of support.
