Struggling With Intermittent Fasting ? — Try DRINKING THIS
Maintaining Your Eating Window Could Be THIS Easy
Intermittent fasting has countless benefits for the mind and body, with many deciding to try it.
Unfortunately many find it unsustainable, the lack of energy and hunger in the morning and at night makes it difficult to maintain a consistent eating window.
There are some tips and tricks, or some beverages and liquids to be precise, that contain little to no calories which can help with low energy and hunger, without breaking your fast.
1 . Salt Water
Many of the symptoms of hunger experienced during a fast, such as fatigue nausea and lightheadedness, are actually caused by low levels of electrolytes, and sodium being one of them.
The low levels of sodium in body which cause these hunger -like symptoms can be attributed to the kidneys excreting sodium from the bloodstream.
As soon as the fast begins, levels of salt in the form of sodium are being depleted from the bloodstream, and being fasted for longer periods of time, like when intermittent fasting, leads to these negative effects commonly falsely attributed to hunger itself.
If you are feeling weak during your fast, you could try to drink a glass of water with a teaspoon or two of salt. This replaces your sodium lost throughout your fast and should alleviate some of the symptoms of hunger you are experiencing.
Salt water is not particularly tasty, so you might want to add something like freshly squeezed lemon juice into it. Fresh lemon juice won’t break your fast, but it will curb the bad taste of the salt water, and will top up your vitamin C as a bonus.
2. Yerba Mate
It is well known and established that consuming certain beverages such herbal tea doesn’t break your fast. There are also certain types of tea that can also help you during your fasting period. One of those is Yerba Mate.
One of the qualities of yerba mate is that it delays gastric emptying.
This is the time taken for food to leave the stomach and start entering your gut.
This then leads to the stomach being fuller for longer, which naturally then extends the time it takes for you to start feeling hungry again.
Additionally, yerba mate is caffeinated, which adds the effect of curbing one’s appetite.
Yerba mate also has many other health benefits that will help you in other areas of your life, therefore it is wise to add it to your daily routine for other health effects.
Intermittent fasting can be difficult and there are many ways we can minimize the downsides of this lifestyle change.
We can utilize different drinks that don’t break our fast to help us in our intermittent fasting routine.
I have found salt water with some lemon juice squeezed in and yerba mate tea to help me when I’m feeling hungry.
You can add these to your daily routine, with drinking salt and lemon water first thing in the morning and by switching out your midmorning or afternoon coffee with some yerba mate.
Hope this helped.
