Striving To Channel The Spirit Of Keanu Reeves

Not at all a “Stan” piece, dedicated to ‘The Man, The Myth, The Legend’.

Sometimes, it is good to be quiet and think of things that you care about, see around you, or even about life. Reflecting on things, getting lost in the summation of them, and appreciating the simple fact that you have come a long way, and it is not due to chance or luck but to your own efforts.

Sometimes the real answers to life’s toughest questions are in these quiet moments of reflection. That second or two you spend thinking about something, or even listening to something, will provide an opportunity for your mind to produce something profoundly changing.

Starting with you and everyone around you.

I’ve noticed how quiet people make us think. Thinking gives clarity and leads to change. I’ve seen a lot of quiet people in my life, and it’s not always something that I used to compute in my mind as to why they are so. They keep to themselves, have very few words to say, and get very little attention.

Some famous people are known to be like this, Keanu Reeves, for example, is said to be famously quiet, and thoughtful. I may be biased as he is one of the few stars that I admire and if you know his story, you will be amazed how such a successful star can be so polite and humble.

There is a video that was recommended to me by YouTube, which gave me the reason to write this article.

But the fact remains that when people like Keanu put words out into the world, there is meaning and it is sometimes even seen as an instance of sheer brilliance.

In one of the inspiring Facebook posts, Keanu gave a sneak peek into the sad story of his life. Here’s the post:

“Most people know me, but don’t know my story. At the age of 3, I watched my father leave. I attended four different high schools and struggled with dyslexia, making my education more challenging than it is for most. Eventually I left high school without earning a diploma. At the age of 23, my closest friend River Phoenix died of a drug overdose.

In 1998, I met Jennifer Syme. We fell instantly in love and by 1999, Jennifer was pregnant with our daughter. Sadly, after eight months, our child was born stillborn. We were devastated by her death and it eventually ended our relationship. 18 months later, Jennifer died in a car accident. Since then I avoid serious relationships and having kids.

My younger sister had leukemia. Today she is cured, and I donated 70% of my gains from the movie Matrix to Hospitals that treat leukemia.”

A lot of articles have already been written talking about the kindness of Keanu. Insider has published an article on him. Several people might have already told you about him being ‘the nicest man on the planet’ and ‘the respectful king’.

The point is that the world has become so very mean. People have simply stopped caring for one another. Everything anyone says or does will offend people, clashing with their ideologies and hurting their egos.

Just think about it, a huge celebrity like Keanu Reeves can dodge all the negative human traits. How can he be so grounded, quiet, and kind despite being extremely popular?

In the world of chaos, and despair, all we need is to strive to become a person like him, to become a better human.

I was recently travelling by bus on the road when I witnessed a road rage incident unfold in front of my eyes. From a small issue, which could have been resolved by simply saying sorry, turned into a huge fight, where the cops had to come and resolve the matter. It was then that YouTube recommended the video about Keanu Reeves.
