10 Truths Everyone Should Understand About Life

After all, we always strive to do better.

As I am about to enter the exclusive 30-year club later this year, I have learned so many lessons throughout the years from people and experiences.

Lessons that are not only about developing skills that will make you more valuable on the job, but also about life in general.

Most of us have regrets. We refuse to embrace the facts of life and do not want to face challenges. As a result, we lack the inspiration and motivation to make a difference.

Like most of you, I also have “been there, done that”.

Hence, here’s a shortlist of life lessons or truths that everyone should know.

  1. As you get smarter, you use simpler words and make clearer sentences. After all, you don’t want to make things more complicated by stuffing more words to prove your point.
  2. Unproductive days quickly become unproductive years if you don’t sharpen your focus sooner. If you fail to realise this, you will waste a lot of years.
  3. As you become a better version of yourself, you will meet interesting and inspirational people who help you to achieve your goal.
  4. When you are loaded with options, always choose the more ambitious path that will help you to become a better person. Of course, this might not be true for all the scenarios.
  5. Dissociate yourself from people who have no goals and no ambitions, yet consistently create excuses and drama. No matter whether you agree with this or not, they will always try to pull you down.
  6. Self-confidence is important. Building confidence is how you keep your promises to yourself.
  7. Most people will feel no shame in taking advantage of your generosity. Hence, you must learn to say “no”. You can provide a brief explanation if you feel obliged, but you are not obligated to do so.
  8. Manipulative people can be found in every walk of life. You must learn to recognise these people. These are the people who will feel disappointed in you when they can not manipulate you.
  9. ̶R̶e̶l̶a̶t̶i̶o̶n̶s̶h̶i̶p̶s̶, nope, ‘great’ relationships don’t distract you from your personal goals, they help to get you there.
  10. The smarter you get, the less you get offended. I mean, isn’t that obvious?
