Stop Writing Articles

Start reading them

I get it; you want to write articles, make lots of money, join the free world, be different from everyone else, and of course, you know how to make it.

Well, maybe you don't.

People who constantly write articles, especially those without substance or the end-user in mind, yes, I am talking about the reader of your articles. You are going to fail at some point.

Have you ever heard the phrase, you have two ears and one mouth?

Great, it has no meaning here on Medium, but I am pleased you have heard of it at least. Well done you!

Please, stop writing. I mean it, please stop, start reading other people's articles, make some real connections and start engaging.

You don't want to be left behind. We all need to start making small communities, and it sounds like the days of large publications may be coming to an end during 2022.

Curation is moving to an automatic system, and articles will not have the viral status or impact they once had. I urge you to move with the times or be left behind, wondering what has happened.

I am talking from experience; every spare second I had, was spent writing articles or looking after my publication. As a result, I stopped enjoying being on Medium, and I lost track of the fun side of reading great content that others had written.

These are three articles I recently read and enjoyed:

Written by Sabit Ololade, I went for an eye test today, thankfully nothing more serious than a burst of a blood vessel caused by too many hours of looking at a computer screen.

Written by Francesca Dallaglio, her writing connects with me. I feel she, too, writes with her heart on her sleeve, very open and honest, such a genuine writer.

Written by Nikki, I think you all by now know I am a big fan of hers; she has a great heart and is always giving back to her community. Nikki is the type of person who will succeed on Medium, and I will enjoy watching her flourish.

I have a motto #Strongertogether; as a supportive community, let us start reading more, remember you pay $5 a month, whether you read one or one hundred articles.

I have found one of the best ways to improve is to read; you get a feel for different writing styles and can pick up some great tips from other writers.

Enjoy your experience by taking pleasure from reading articles from your fellow writers.
