Well, despite the advances made in AI, there is still much to be discovered and refined. AI technology is constantly evolving, and we have not yet realized its full potential.
So, it’s safe to say that we’re just scratching the surface of what AI can do.
Now, let’s talk about the types of AI.
- Artificial Narrow Intelligence (ANI) or Weak AI:
These artificial intelligence systems are designed to carry out certain activities or a group of tasks inside a specified context.
For instance, speech recognition, image recognition, and machine translation are all included in ANI systems. These systems can complete the tasks that have been given to them, but they are limited by the boundaries of their predefined scope.
2. Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) or Strong AI:
AI systems known as AGI are capable of carrying out any intellectual work that a human can. It is intended to learn, adapt to new circumstances, and resolve issues on its own. This implies that, like people, AGI systems are capable of comprehending and interacting with their surroundings.
3. Artificial Super Intelligence (ASI):
A hypothetical kind of AI known as ASI is superior to humans in all domains of intelligence, including creativity, problem-solving, and decision-making. It is so sophisticated that it can analyze enormous volumes of data in a matter of seconds and solve complicated issues considerably more quickly than a human brain.
Now, when it comes to ChatGPT, it is considered an example of ANI.
This means that while ChatGPT is highly advanced, it is designed to perform specific tasks like generating text, answering questions, and providing solutions to problems within a particular range. It is not capable of performing tasks beyond its scope or thinking like a human.
Even AI tools such as Midjourney fall under the category of ANI or Weak AI, we can confidently say that we are still in the early stages of AI development.
The Future of Work: AI to Enhance Productivity and Complement Human Workers
I’ve read one of the Forbes articles where it predicts that AI may replace some jobs in the future, specifically, content writers, computer programmers and coders, financial analysts, advisors, and bankers.
However, in my opinion, it may not be possible for AI to completely replace human workers in these fields for at least a decade.
As someone who works as a content writer and programmer with a few years of experience, I can attest that AI tools like ChatGPT have helped me become more productive, complete tasks efficiently, and increase my income.
A similar point is even talked about by Aljazeera, while ChatGPT and other AI models could potentially replace routine jobs in some sectors and cause disruption to the labor market, it is more likely that AI will enhance productivity and complement human workers rather than lead to widespread unemployment.
Experts agree that AI technology has the potential to work alongside humans, making tasks easier and increasing efficiency, rather than replacing human workers altogether.
Therefore, it’s possible that AI may change the way we work, but it’s unlikely that it will replace all human workers in these fields anytime soon.
