Stop Doing This If You Want To Succeed In Life
I can’t stand when people say this

Instagram DM Conversation from June. 2021
Girl: life is short live it up!
Me: Life is short, Queen. But why does it
have to be shorter for Black people
than any other race? People usually
use quotes like that because it gives
them an excuse for their lack of
accountability.
“Life is short” so let’s get drunk.
“Life is short” so let’s get high.
“Life is short” so go buy whatever you
want even though you can barely afford it.
“Life is short” so eat whatever you
want even though if you look at the
leading causes of death for Black
people are health related issues.
“Life is short” so let’s party every
every weekend at these clubs and
bars where people are high, drunk,
hot and sweaty, listening to negative
music all night, then fights and
shootouts happen. (I just read this
morning that two people died at some
bar in Florida Blvd last night and five
people wounded.)
I say all that to say this: there is a time
and place for everything. Nothing
wrong with having fun, but we as a
community have to be more focused. Our
priorities are messed up.
The “bullshit” cannot over power the
“building.” That’s why white folks look
at us like children and don’t take us
seriously. That’s why they give us a
“holiday” and give Asians a crime bill
and money along with it.
We have to get out priorities in check,
Queen.
Girl: huh? all races party and celebrate.
white people get turnt for 4th of july
and st patrick’s day 😂😂😂😂
other races do all of that stuff and
juneteenth is a day specifically for
black people so yes they should
celebrate and party as u would any
other holiday
white people not gone respect you
just bc you don’t party if they’re racist
they’re racist. they do all that stuff too
Me: They don’t respect us because,
unfortunately, we don’t respect
ourselves. They don’t take us
seriously because we don’t take our issues
and our problems seriously. We don’t
focus on the problem at all. That’s
why we cherish partying so much
because we use it as a temporary way
to escape our everyday problems. But
the problems are still going to be
there when your done partying,
getting drunk, smoking blunts, or
drinking lean — whatever that person
does. All of those are just escape
mechanisms. It always amazes me
how we can always come together for
parties, but we can’t come together
for supporting businesses. We can get 5
negros to put money down on some
liquor or weed, but can’t get those
same negros to put money down on a
business to generate wealth.
White people love when we think like
this. So I can see why they have a
reason to celebrate EVERYDAY. They
are the ones who are winning
EVERYDAY. And if we get our shit
together, then that could be us.
