Stewarding Humanity Forward While Nourishing Yourself
It’s the trap that we all face: we want to propel ourselves and humanity forward, but we also have bills to pay.

I long held a vision for healing and knowledge that reality was deeper than what conventional society and my very mainstream, atheist upbringing had exposed me to. I long had the desire to be a writer, to embark on a spiritual journey, and to help others feel empowered to become their best selves.
Yet my reality — my cultural circumstances, my financial reality, and my own psychological and spiritual blockages — hindered me from pursuing my heart-centered path for many, many years. I lost myself to the cultural decadence and hedonism of life in NYC in the early to mid-2000s, despite having found some inkling of the healing possibilities potentially available for myself and humanity.
Now, I’ve finally come home to myself and my purpose, but as a single mom in this time of high inflation, unbearable cost of living, and general late-stage capitalism, I am struggling with isolation and making a living. For this, I believe I must take a double-pronged approach: I must try both harder and smarter.
Nothing worth it comes easy. It is also true that you cannot pour from an empty cup. So spending money on yourself and your business is a vital part of self-growth and self-development, and smart investments always pay dividends. So I say this as a message to both myself and to others who are still working on optimizing their lives: we must continue to pursue our purposes and our communities.
We must find ways to live in community, find our tribe, maintain a clear vision of our lives, and put in the work to manifest those visions. The after-effects of the pandemic and living with a sky-high cost of living have made this even harder, but this only intensifies the urgency of the call. I must find and co-create the life I envision so that I continue to raise my individual and collective vibration.
I must continue to speak out about the importance of working with earth medicines intentionally, and of living in more community-centered, collective models that support us in living as our highest and best selves.
For whatever reason, I had felt compelled to return to NYC, mostly as living here was my comfort zone, it was familiar, but I must find my tribe and either develop my own or find shelter with an already formed co-living community. No one is meant to live in isolation. We are social creatures, and living in a community can not only lower your cost of living, but it can be enormously beneficial to your mental health and add to on the overall vibrancy and meaningfulness of your life.
