RECIPROCAL NATURE PROMPT
Stars Shining Bright Through The Endless Sky
What do stars mean to me

Stars have always been up there.
As long as I’ve been looking up at least.

I have always thought that around some of those so many stars we look out on each clear night there must be planets with something on them looking out beyond their own shadow.
Life, maybe not as we know it, but the stars tell us that in their starlight is some kind of thought, somehow, somewhere, aware of its own and maybe our own existence.

Created from the same star tossed dust or at least the same dust from that first flash of time. Ancient dust from already collapsed stars dispersing elements with the solar wind. Molecular clouds floating outward almost forever to fly. Or until that time of great gathering. Sometimes crashing in interstellar space, collapsing under its own gravitational forces. And we are swept into that great sparkling dustpan to start again. Or binding somehow to become a living blue planet.

Twinkle, twinkle little star how we always had great wonder of what and why you’re there. In that never yet always changing sky. Guiding us as a species across great seas. And someday across those much greater seas. Always chasing our stars and our reason.
The actual wonder is that we could be aware of this greater star filled universe at all.

I remember those gold and silver sometimes blue, green and red in winter, star stickers stuck on those long ago classroom papers. Stars on the Stars and Stripes slapping in the breeze. Stars shining in the snowy nights atop the evergreen trees.
And those long warm summer nights with the windows thrown open wide to the constelations.
Only a tiny gap separates us from anything else. Everywhere across this water splashed planet. Stars may be able to comunicate something of value if we pay attention.
Stars are life itself.

We wouldn’t be here without them. Especially that big orange orb floating in our daytime skies. So powerful and grand until it sets and one looks upward at interstellar darkness. With a twinkle in the eye.
Like stars, we cast light on each other.
