Our first annual Spring Writing Contest is now behind us but all of the beauty of the poems and stories shared live with us to enjoy this season.

I love writing. While I haven’t been on Dancing Elephant Press as much as in the past, it is still within my thoughts and heart.

I want to thank everyone that submitted for this contest personally. I’m still looking for ways to share this body of work on a broader scale. There should be a way for everyone to see the beauty of what’s been written. You all deserve to win a prize because each and every one of you is exceptional. Thank you, for your participation.

I’d like to remind you that in just a few days, we’ll start accepting stories about Summer. Please don’t hold back. Please help us remember our youth, the summer of our dreams, and the destination recently added to or removed from our well-worn bucket list. Please, use your summer dream to help us all remember the wonderful nature of Summer.

Summer (Sub-title will be the DEP Summer Contest). Prompt: How does the idea of summer inspire you? Submissions can begin on Thursday, June 22, 2023 — September 22, 2023; the last day for submissions is the 15th of September, 2023. The award will be announced on Friday, September 22, 2023, by the day’s end.”

More about the quarterly contests here:

Congratulations to our winner for Spring 2023, Yana Bostongirl. She's been writing for Dancing Elephants Press since 2021. Winning a contest may not be that big of a deal to some. Personally, I’ve always seen those that submitted, and especially those that win, a bit above the others. Honestly, the writing of these stories was exceptional. This made it very hard for the Editors and myself to decide.
