Announcing the contest schedule for Dancing Elephant Press for 2023 and 2024.

There will be 5 contests this year. Each will have exactly the same prize, $25.00, payable via Zelle only. All submissions must be from a Dancing Elephant Press writer. All entries must be more than 500 words but less than 1,000 words in length. All entries shall list the contest as the subtitle. All submissions must meet Dancing Elephant Press Standards.

The contest schedule will be as follows:

Spring (Sub-title will be the DEP Spring Contest). Prompt: How Spring inspires you? Submissions can begin on Mon, Mar 20, 2023 — June 15, 2023; the last day for submissions is the 15th of June. The award will be announced on Wed, Jun 21, 2023, by the day’s end.

Summer (Sub-title will be the DEP Summer Contest). Prompt: How does the idea of summer inspire you? Submissions can begin on Thursday, June 22, 2023 — September 22, 2023; the last day for submissions is the 15th of September, 2023. The award will be announced on Friday, September 22, 2023, by the day’s end.

Fall (Sub-title will be the DEP Fall Contest). Prompt: What does fall mean to you? Submissions can begin on Saturday, September 23, 2023 — December 20, 2023; the last day for submissions is the 15th of September, 2023. The award will be announced on Friday, December 20, 2023, by the day’s end.

Veteran’s Day (Sub-title will be the DEP Veteran’s Day Contest). Prompt: If you could speak directly to a soldier that is now disabled, what would you say? Submissions can begin on October 15, 2023; the last day for submissions is the 5th of November, 2023. The award will be announced on November 11, 2023, by the day’s end.

Winter (Sub-title will be the DEP Winter Contest). Prompt: Tell us why winter is such an important season. Submissions can begin on Friday, December 22, 2023 — February 15, 2024; the last day for submissions is the 5th of February, 2024. The award will be announced on February 28, 2024, by the day’s end.
