Guest Prompt Week 4, Day 3

Spiritual Seekers On An Ever Expanding Journey

The evolution of the spirit, the soul and the mind

Everyone’s journey is unique. We’re here to experience life as human beings. Our purpose on this physical realm is to learn, grow, and evolve spiritually. We use our gifts to make the world better by loving ourselves and one another. For most of us, we already sense there is more to life than just this finite and constrained vessel, even when we can’t access the knowledge directly.

Many spiritual texts, most of which are ancient, spanning multiple languages, geographical regions, and centuries, have long described where we came from and where we’ll ultimately return. There is enough evidence to prove that we are indeed spiritual beings, temporarily living in a body to experience life in this physical world.

The awakening journey is a personal quest we undertake into the mysterious and unknown lands within ourselves to find our magnificent qualities, discover our true calling and personal destiny. Spiritual awakening can be a very open-ended concept, not restricted to a single path or belief system.

Our soul knows there is more to life than what we experience on a sensory and physical level. It’s always leading us towards zero judgments, acceptance, and love. The ego, however, protects and empowers us to strive for our ambitions, to excel, to glorify our intelligence and personal identity. This creates a favorable condition for the battle of good and evil to rage on within.

Most spiritual seekers aim to kill, dismiss, and forget about the existence of the ego because it can’t access universal intelligence or the divine energy being that can help us reach a deeply fulfilling state. That’s right. Our ego can’t play that role and it’s not called to do so.

The ego defines a person’s sense of self-importance, identity, and feelings. It’s true that it causes most of our suffering, but it can also save us from further pain. The ego’s influence can propel us up or incapacitate us down.

Self-love, self-confidence, and self-belief, otherwise known as personal identity, are crucial to our success in life. Who will believe in us if we don’t believe in ourselves? Believing in ourselves requires a healthy development of the ego that enables us to process our environment to support our goals.

With the proper dose of a healthy ego, you know it’s up to you to take charge of your life, push through challenging situations, and remain resilient during downtimes.

An unhealthy ego can thrust all of that positivity into reverse, turning it into arrogance, fear, scarcity, blame, and superiority. However, when we can manage it properly, ego promotes growth.

At different stages in our lives, we allow and tolerate certain aspects of the ego within us. It would be very shortsighted and a complete lack of humility to assume we can prevent ego from influencing us at all. Our quest for spiritual maturity may require our willingness to embrace awareness, to examine our conditioned belief systems that hinder our capacity to grow, embrace our weaknesses and expand in all its fullness. If we agree to accept harmony within ourselves, we discover peace.

Spiritual awakening enables us to perceive what is real versus what is illusory, and when we get down to it, nothing in this world is real. Everything is vibrational energy.

Instead of transporting our minds off this material world and constantly preoccupied in the eternal shores, we remember that we’re here to serve a significant purpose for the benefit of our soul and the earth.

Does the spiritual awakening journey elevate the physical human experience; or as someone asked, what positive material outcomes can we attribute to the awakening journey? We can of course explore this in a simple yet effective manner.

Although our minds have awakened to a new reality or a paradigm shift in awareness, technically we can’t abandon life on earth. We still need to cope with the limitations, work our way through any resistance, and transcend all manners of conflict, challenges, and sufferings.

The awakening journey enables us to see the truth even in the worst or most profound condition. The awakened person is ready to accept and face any situation and not fall under the control of the unhealthy ego, resulting in greed, lust, or jealousy. If life pulls him away temporarily, he can break out of the illusion and return to the present moment.

The good news is, once a person has had a real, undeniable, inexplicable spiritual awakening, he can’t go back.

Once you’ve experienced this state, regardless of what happens, life satisfaction increases, relationships become more meaningful, and you’re better able to cope with adversity. Because you no longer waste your energy on activities that do not align with your growth and evolution, you become more productive.

You take pride in your work and feel greater responsibility towards the outcomes of life. With the increased sense of intuition, you’re also likely to stay motivated on any task at hand and remain connected with the world around you. You’ll be able to enjoy the material world and all that it offers without being dominated by them. As the saying goes, the rest will follow on its own.

Spiritual awakening remains an ongoing journey that requires continuous patience, time, acceptance and reflection. With practice, you’ll become more confident and in control of creating an external world that mirrors your inner world.
