Opposites Attract

In Jungian terms we are often attracted to our golden shadow. This is the opposite of who we are — or the one who is in the light. Of course, this is often projection when we first fall in-love. When the romance wears off then the elements of the darker shadow may appear or faults where we were once blinded by the light. As we advance and become sophisticated we don’t run from the shadow, we recognize in the other that they may be our projection. As we acknowledge the darker shadow in ourselves, then accept what we don’t like in ourselves, then this creates opportunities for work. And our tolerance for the unpleasant manifestations in others — grows.

Of course, there are those who are addicted to the continued high of romance and when the golden shadows wear out they fall out of love and the reset button is hit hoping for the next eternal high. This is another form of illusion.

Soulmate connections are most often Mars-Venus oppositions, squares or trines. The oppositional relationships between these planets between two people can create electrifying energies that many refer to as chemistry or a soulmate connection. However, if there is not enough harmonious angles the soulmate bond may not stick.

Intimate Love Relationships are pressure cookers for psychological, spiritual, and being growth or evolution into higher forms of consciousness for both partners as individuals and the being of the couple.

The Yod

The diagram above is incomplete for the sake of simplicity. Yods or two inconjuncts (quincuxes) drive incredible energy at the point of each isosceles triangle. Most people do not have much experience with the tech of astrology. With that in mind, look at the images above from an intuitive or heart-centered place within to get a feel for the power of these mutually relational aspects.

I look at the glyph as a see-saw or teeter-totter. When it is in balance then the passion is balanced and does not go into obsessive-compulsive extremes of one-sidedness of left or right.

To the left are visual examples of the glyphs when passion tips into obsession first and then compulsive behaviors. I invite you to look at the Red Lines of the Venus and Mars from the woman’s chart above on to the man’s Venus. Reflect on the opposition stance. It is release value to let off steam from this over-the-top roaring intensity at the mid-point between the woman’s Venus and Mars in Virgo at 9.5º whether or not there is a planet, asteroid or any point or heavenly body there or not. Shadow work will be necessary for the woman and the man together.

The man will also have shadow work as they share the inconjunct making it a mutually shared angle/yod (finger of god). The opposition release is 9.5º Aquarius for the man and the woman’s shadow work together.

Astrological Spiritual Connections for Soulmates

Harmonious angles and some squares of your Moon with your partner’s Moon or any planet can portend a soulmate connection. The Moon represents our emotional life, nurturing, and mothers.

When your Moon is paired with Neptune — this may feel like your partner is your dream come true. The three angles that promote an empathic connection with your partner are conjuncts, sextiles and trines (the glyphs for sextiles and trines are on the above left). When I look at these glyphs I get the feeling of harmony and ease. What do you get?

Conjunctions are when two planets are with 2 to 4 degrees of one another. They produce the energies of blending sometimes producing instant like and recognition.

These aspects with the other’s Moon or Sun with Moon, Mercury with Moon, or Venus with Moon for example can at the very least can be an emotional soulmate connection. With other aspects it could be intellectual, spiritual and physical as well.

When one partner or perspective partner has Mercury conjunct, trine or sextile Neptune there can be a telepathic or blending of thoughts and emotions from the mundane to the spiritual. When the Moon trines or sextiles Neptune emotional blending is heightened sometimes to the level of higher consciousness between partners.

A partner’s Pluto conjuncting Mars can trigger a spontaneous Kundalini Rising experience just by their being present, in-person or in-spirit.

It feels so good and familiar

The root word of “familiar” is family. If the life you had / have with your family is more than 50% miserable, you may want to take a look at how you are relating to your family. A correlative astrological marker are the nodes of the moon. North and South nodes are always opposite each other.

If your North Node (your future) is conjunct their South Node (their past) then you have had a past life with them and are slated have that played out in your relationship. In other words each of you is headed in the opposite direction from the other. Better to remain friends in this situation unless you are a glutton for misery.

Notes on Process

I made about five drafts of part one and realized it was too complicated. In writing this, part two, I began remembering more soulmate connections through the astrological frame. Some are mentioned in passing, because after all this is a primer. Making the diagrams took a longer time than expected. I used the Apple Pencil and realized it looked like a one-year old drew them. I switched to Photoshop to strengthen the artwork — it has taken a long time, longer than I would have liked.
