Soulmate Partnerships: A Primer in Parts [1]
Lovers for Life
There are six modes for discovering one’s soulmate.
- You. When you have an attraction and feel an incredibly soulful connection with a person all your senses are ignited at once. The range if feelings may begin with a heart connection to a familiarity. You feel that they are standing in front of you from the depths of your being. You may be looking at your soulmate.
- Astrology of The Self. Astrology — in interpreting the natal chart reveals the nuances of how a person relates with another in the ways of love. Even if you are well aware of yourself an astrological reading may provide detailed insights on how you are in relationship, especially how you relate to yourself and how you perceive other kinds of relationships.
- Astrology of Relationship. A term known amongst astrologers as “synastry” is the angular relationship between one planet and another. This happens within our birth charts and between our birth chart and another’s birth chart, for example. The relationship between one and another person’s planets can reveal the type of soulmate relationship, where the glue is and where lies the challenges of the relationship.
- Astrological Psychology. An astrology reading reveals psychological relationships between how we are with our parents. Often times we attract the characteristics of one or another partner that is unfulfilled in a potential partner. Exploring the relationship we’ve had with who had authority over us as children can reveal the pattern of our relationship as it moves forward. Whether we’ve worked to be at peace with one or both of our parents and whether you partner has also done this may gauge the success or failure of a soulmate relationship.
- Soul Age. Determining Soul Age can have a huge bearing on whether a partnership can weather the storms of conflict and growth.
- Spirit. Or Spirituality/Spirit involves fate, destiny and the mystical. These are ineffable qualities that allow lovers to unite on many levels that can only be briefly touched on here.
Types of Soulmates
Basically there are two types of soulmates: Karmic and Twin-Flame. This piece will explore Karma Soulmates because they are the most plentiful and common. Twin-Flame Soulmates carries much controversy and will not be a topic for this piece.
Amongst Karmic Soulmates there are two sub-types.
- Intimate — Love Partnerships
- Siblings, Parent-Child, Business, Friend pairings that can be karmic.
It could be said that anyone you have an intense liking or intense disliking has karma to work out with me, you, or us. I will be only dealing with Karmic Intimate Love Partnerships here.
Karmic Love Soulmates
Astrology of The Self
Personal Planets: How Venus and Mars are aspected/related with each other and how your Moon is related with any of your personal planets will determine how you relate to yourself. Any astrological relational aspects between any of the five personal planets whether a blending (conjunctions), easy -flow (sextiles), harmonious (trines), conflicts seeking resolution or growth (squares), passion and/or obsessive-compulsiveness (inconjuncts aka quincuxes), or conflicts that seem intractable (oppositions) is something to which you’ve adapted so that you have a better relationship with yourself. The five personal planets are:
- Sun
- Moon
- Mercury
- Venus
- Mars
Transpersonal Planets of Jupiter and Saturn have a bearing. The transpersonal planets aspecting/relating to Jupiter ranges from generosity to excess; and Saturn can represent the authority in your family of origin, hard work, accomplishment, limits, and boundaries for example.
The Outer Planets: Are Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto — they are considered generational because they take many years to transverse through a zodiacal sign and are akin to generations: boomers, Gen X, Gen Z etc.. A personal planet in a relational angle to any of the Outer Planets can have an effect on relationships. Even an Outer Planet in the 7th House — the house of relationships can have a profound effect on how you or a prospective partner will respond in a relationship.
Astrology of Relationship
A typical bond of “chemistry” for a yang to yin relationship is Mars in the yang (male) place and Venus in the yin (female) place. The angular relations is astrology is called “synastry”. The typical Mars as male or yang and the Venus as female or yin can be reversed. The female/yin Mars is related to the male/yang Venus in which case the yin/Mars will often take the lead. Or in a gendered sense the female will lead the male.
The angles for chemistry:
Conjunction [0˚degree angle]: two planets in the same sign such as Venus and Mars within 2 degrees apart from one another. Or Mars could be at 29 degrees Libra and the other person’s Venus could be at 1 degree Scorpio making it a conjunction between two signs. Conjunctions are a blending of energies and are excellent aspects for friendship — and along with other aspects could portend a soulmate bonding.
Sextile [60˚degree angle]: If Venus and Mars are associated via this angle — it is the easiest friendship. Without other supporting angles and planet placements then this relationship could be a best friend situation.
Square [90˚degree angle]: Mars and Venus square one another brings maximum chemistry and is definitely indicative of a soulmate connection. A good love-making bond is also indicative of this angle. Squares are about conflict for growth. While there could be arguing and competition there is opportunity for resolution and great make-up sex. Squares are growth through conflict.
Trine [120˚degree angle]: Mars and Venus in a trine is what everyone who has a small knowledge of astrology, hopes for — the ultimate in harmony. While this is a soulmate relationship connection, conflict needs to exist somewhere else in the shared relations of the two charts to hold the relationship together. (I had a relative whose wife and he had nothing but harmonious angles in their synastry table/ bi-wheel. There were no bumps, no conflicts. Their relationship was too easy and within seven years they were divorced because they needed inherent conflict.)
A Pause
One complex relational angle between lovers — the inconjunct a 150 degree angle will be discussed in the “Next” part — and is great passion. Passion is always present in desire and love-making. The opposition a 180 degree angle of planets of partners that are opposite each other provides a strong magnetic attraction and great sex. However the glue of more harmonious angles are needed to keep the lovers together. More about these angles between partners in the “Next” part.
