Paper Poetry Daou ضوء Series
Soul of A Lion
Daou being Arabic for light & illumination

Walk with pride, little lion, my habibi from heaven, cub of daou my arms welcome long before this beginning, infinitely after a lifetime’s cage sets us free.
Your pride is comprised of souls breathing ضوء into your own – artists, musicians, astrophysicists, chemists, mathematicians, writers, investors, advisors, restauranteurs, farmers, travelers, seekers, miracle workers, a poet
expanding your universe, your tentative first steps cupped like a Monarch within the awed hands of their footprints.
For now, you alight. Soon at aphelion you will fly –
roars of light and delight shed like tawny fur, wafting like petals of daisies and sunflowers, your laughter as life-giving as water
as luscious and potent as the wine that summoned your pet name from celestial peaks afar.

Enough said…
Thank you, Indubala Kachhawa and team at Paper Poetry for inviting me to take part in Paper Poetry series.
Thank you, dearest readers, for dropping by and admiring my habibi with me.
Thank you, Daou Vineyards, for the wine and wondrous elixir called inspiration. Which reminds me, my next poem in this series will be called Holding It Together — after Galileo’s quotation: “Wine is sunlight, held together by water.”
Editorial Note: Paper Poetry is running a themed poetry series of four poems over a month. If you want to be a part of it, kindly check this,
