Paper Poetry Series

The complete ‘Wabi Sabi’ series and introducing ‘Daou.’

Image edited by the author in Canva

Dear Paper Poetry Readers, Hello, Bonjour, Olá, Salaam, Hola, Nǐn hǎo, Konnichiwa, Guten Tag, Namastay, LOVE.

Every minute counts and every breath matters When they are related, synchronous and coming one after another This coherence of one chapter with another Shapes a Series of a similar nature Every word counts and every poem matters

At Paper Poetry, we strive to make your words indelible by churning out successive series to nudge the right chord of your poetic soul gently.

Poetry Series

To bring forth a fresh perspective to our readers, we initiated this mini endeavor growing with your love and support.

As Paper Poetry completes its third successful Poetry Series, we can’t help but celebrate and ask for more. After all, when is an artist satisfied? Satisfaction and stagnancy are the arch-nemesis of an artist.

Keeping this in mind, we come up with a novel theme in our Poetry Series every month.

It is a great opportunity for a poet to 1. Explore a theme in depth while showcasing their work. 2. Claim a special spot on Paper Poetry publication. 3. A mention in the newsletter. 4. Increased visibility.

“Wabi-Sabi” Words

Image edited by the Author on Canva with permission from Chloe Paulina Hawes

Our third writer for the Poetry Series was Chloe Paulina Hawes. She chose the theme Wabi-Sabi, a Japanese concept meaning beauty in imperfection.

I define Wabi-Sabi as a choice to perceive as beautiful what our society deems in nature as imperfect or even transient. ~ Chloe P Hawes

She promised to show us the other side of the coin via her compassionate heart and discerning eye. You bet she delivered more than she promised!

In Cracks in Our Sky,’ she captures the beauty in nature’s imperfection.

To bare feet dancing and splashing along vertical streams of carefree giggling thunder is a reaction — not a roaring plea. A symbiotic love

In Our Shaken Snow Globe,’ she discerns the beauty in the ruin.

unimaginably acting in uniformity and for all our grief and self-hatred that force, in love, holds our shaken snow globe steady

In ‘A Patchwork Beast,’ she picks the beauty in ugliness.

Why of all would I coddle a patched beast? A whimpering monster — and one who outlives me!

In ‘A Posture of Hands,’ she perceives the beauty in the unknown

I part with the knots and my fingers fold ….. of stories left untold.

We applaud Chloe for opening our eyes to beauty beyond beauty.

Will not the world be a better place if we look for beauty in everything around us and spread positivity? Isn’t this what the world needs now?

Chloe entreats us, via her words, to have a wabi-sabi outlook and flush out all the prejudices we have been nurturing for ages, and look for beauty in imperfection. Slowly and gradually, when wabi-sabi becomes a way of life, our thoughts will become unaffected by any adverse situation.

Perception is everything. By changing our perception of imperfection, we will channelize our energy to positivity, manifesting more positivity around us.

Below is the showcase of her incredible artwork.

Her dedicated page will always be on the Paper Poetry Page. As all the Poetry Series submissions will.

We are thrilled to announce our fourth Poetry Series Writer. She is indomitable, joyous, a seeker of epiphanies, an acolyte of beauty, a worshipper of wisdom, a beam in the Light!

Peeps, please welcome jenine bsharah baines.

jenine has a Lebanese heritage and has chosen the theme, Daou. An Arabic word meaning light and illumination.

Daou holds a special significance for her, and she is excited to share her deep thoughts and experiences with us.

Jenine will be enlightening us, spreading and sprinkling Daou via her wordsmith wit.

Who could ever imagine that the Sun could rain?! However, in her first poem on Daou, Jenine is eloquently explaining that the Sun does rain.

She will share the story behind her love of “daou” in her next poem, California Sun Cup. Stay tuned! We sure are on an illuminating ride with Jenine!
