Hello all! As the title states, a few new, dependable editors are needed to join our team.

Soul Magazine was one of the first publications I ever joined as a writer when I started my Medium journey. I am proud to say that I have grown into the role of Editor-In-Chief, working alongside our publications' founder, Katherine Myrestad.

I believe in this pub and its growing success.

I also love working alongside an incredibly talented team of fellow editors who agree that we love what Soul Magazine stands for and want all of us, writers included, to succeed in any way possible.

Soul Magazine has been growing steadily lately, and we need 2 to 3 new editors at least to help us work with our fellow writers, ensuring that we help them publish the best pieces they possibly can.

As we all know, editors do not get paid by Medium, so this is truly a labor of love. We want our new editors to join us by providing a few hours a week on our joint schedule of their time.

Our group communicates via Slack, allowing us to bounce ideas off each other, get second opinions on things we are unsure of, and create a healthy, collaborative environment.

What stands out at Soul Magazine is how much like a journal writing with us can feel. This gives us the ability not just to publish blindly but to connect with our writers.

I’ve grown to recognize writers by their tag names through all that I’ve worked with, and it’s always a joy seeing their writing improve and them sharing whatever it is they want to share with us.

If you are interested in joining our editing team, leave a comment here and/or email me directly. This would allow me to vet your profile a bit, see if our values align, and come to an agreement with the team.

Please include in your email your @ username, what time frame you could commit to, your time zone, and for what days of the week. Several of us operate within a few different time zones, so I’d like to avoid overlap wherever possible. If you are interested, I’d be happy to share our current schedule in our email thread so you can get an idea of where you could fit.

I will then provide you with our “New Editor” guidelines and see if all is agreeable between us. No one likes to go into anything unquestionably, nor should they, so transparency and communication are paramount for me.
