Writing Prompt: I still cling to the small sweet things.

Soothing Sweetness

I need a little sweetness when my day has gone sour.

Soothing Sweetness

Candy-protected prisms bounce kaleidoscopic colors from wall to wall Edible legos towering atop the counter, teetering into my mouth, they fall

A diaphragmatic whiff inside relaxes my energies soaring too high Giant Pixy Stix dust scattered past me, Achoo! I feel like I could fly

Every shade of delectable chocolate climbed the sugar ladder Death-defying jump into the molten pot and welcoming batter

Crisp, crunch, tug, chew, savor and swirl the sweetness for you Scooped, wrapped, bagged, and bought, grabbing one for me, too

Purchasing my tiny sweet stock of guilty sucking pleasure Butter rum Lifesavers and Butterscotch discs, please don’t measure

Fantastic! But Oh, wait!!! Before I cross the fatal finish line at the door I spy my absolute favorite Monster Rice Krispie Bar. I dare not ignore

Thanks to Lucy Dan 蛋小姐 (she/her/她) for her writing prompt to bust a mental block.
