Soothe the Blackened Vessels
03 March 2021 Wednesday Prose Poem Prompt: what wounds look like as they heal
I collected layers, used my hands to cover all the surfaces inside and out as an oyster would pile it on to protect my gold.
Rubbing the stone I savored my pain to lock it inside.
Until the turning point arrived and it was time for me to walk my sadness down a different path.
Gently I carried all the wounded parts of me gasping at the touch I had withheld.
Tenderly, I sipped a cool liquid that soothed the blackened vessel of my heart.
Creating an intention I breathed the healing sounds. I held a pebble in my mouth, a small smooth word of revelation.
Forgive
