03 March 2021 Wednesday Prose Poem Prompt: what wounds look like as they heal

A grotesque flower growing out of every hole, sounding off to the universe, a fit of pique, Choice is draining out of the hand like so many coins into the pool, ideality and revenge, the nemeses partying here, soaking up the darkness for future sunshine, grief left in bags with the rest of the litter, only can’t find the light switch right now, reposed on the grass for the sake of the mirror and other enemies, intensity catching up, spreading vaster blankets than we remembered, the surgeon’s skill still between us, hacking out lines and periods, in exact histories and the aporia that thought they were worth gathering in the first place, till they got turned down by everyone who’s shown up naked, take your tired clothes to the foot of the ash, and complain away there but the flesh bouquet isn’t going away any time soon.

Alright, so maybe this one’s a bit of a stretch (concerning prompt and my piece), but I’m interested in reading about what your experience of healing feels like, looks like more specifically. I want to see a strong image to drive your conceptions of wounds changing. I know it isn’t always pleasant, but sometimes, sometimes, the feeling of the alteration that’s coming, the “better” state, overwhelms you enough to see you out of some pretty miserable situations. Yes, these wounds can be physical or psychological, and, no, they don’t need to be especially revealing of situations that you’d rather not discuss. Tag me in it (J.D. Harms), and write on!!
