Something’s Gotta Give — 6 Reasons Why Every Divorced Woman Over 50 Must Watch This Adorable Movie on Love
This has to be hands down the best (and funniest) movie on finding love yet!

You guys! I just watched this movie. It’s 2am! Usually I’m in dreamland at this hour. But tonight I’m here with you. And I’m so happy, I’m so moved by love, laughter and sadness, I can’t sleep.

If you’re a divorced woman over 50, you want to watch this movie — Something’s Gotta Give. It’s the funniest romantic comedy I’ve seen. And boy does it have some lessons on hope and love after you thought it’s game over for you.
Note: Have your tissue box near you before you hit play!
Here’s the lessons the hit home:
- It’s never too late to find love. I want you to believe in love, believe in its existence. If you want to find a beautiful relationship, I want you to repeat this to yourself like a broken record. Never stop believing in love. Never give up on love.
- Sometimes it takes a while for people to understand what it’s all about. I know heartbreak, separation, divorce and loss of love are painful. But I ask you — what’s life without love? The love doesn’t flow out of your heart, it stays locked in there. That’s why it hurts! Something’s gotta give… you know! You gotta love, you gotta take time to feel. Sometimes it takes one person to say something that pulls at your heartstrings, off comes a card and your house of cards crashes to the floor.
- If you’re not feeling, you’re not living life fully. And that’s heartbreaking — because you don’t believe in yourself. You guys! You’re not healing if you’re not feeling. Erica (played by Diane Keaton) is a writer and produces her best writing yet after her experience with Harry (played by Jack Nicholson). Why? Because she let him in and let love into her life after 20 years! 20 years is a lifetime to go without feeling! And she sat her daughter down by the steps near her beach house. Facing the ocean, she tells her that she now understands what it’s all about. She was in love. She felt everything. And that’s what made her feel alive.
- In order to heal, you have to stay present and pour yourself into creating something — a writing, a piece of art, baking a cake, making dream catchers. I don’t care. Instead of hurting and, you too could use all that energy in creating something that, rest assured, you will love! Why? Because it heals a part of you. You poured your feelings into it. Somehow you processed your emotions by staying present to them while you were creating. Your piece of art will impact not just you but also the rest of the world. Erica wrote the play — A Woman To Love, which was her best and funniest work of fiction yet.
- You have no control over others. You have to allow yourself to hurt if you want to love. It doesn’t make you less capable of loving. In fact, that’s not true at all because you were always capable of love. It is the hurt that also presents the possibility of healing, which allows love to flow — like a river. You must allow yourself to go with the flow, let things be or let them go. Cry if you feel like. Do not blame. Erica did not once blame Harry for his inability to commit. All she did each time was share exactly how she felt. She was vulnerable. And that’s incredibly attractive. That’s what makes her “A Woman To Love”. It’s easier to shed your clothes than you bare your emotions. But without someone emotionally investing in you, people will not care.
- Erica had something going for herself. She was writing plays. She had something creative that she valued which gave her life meaning. It brought her happiness, a sense of achievement as well as fulfillment. She longed for love and was open to the possibility of allowing herself to be loved.
There are moments in the movie where you’ll watch Erica crying, you’ll find yourself rolling with laughter.
Love is the most amazing thing.
I want you to watch this movie because I want you to feel. I want you to feel because I want you to heal. I want you to heal because I want you to experience love. I want you to experience love because love makes you the best human you could be — the person God made you to be, to do the work God made you for.
I’m God’s messenger of love and peace.
P.S.: I feel sad for Keanu Reeves, you guys! Leave me alone…
