Some of Y’all White Folks are Crazy!

The Book Burning Tour Across America Continues

“The most effective way to destroy people is to deny and obliterate their own understanding of their history.” ― George Orwell

This book-burning tour across America by some of the white republicans has gotten out of control. Like, what is going on right now? Sometimes I have to pinch myself to see if this is real life.

Since when did we get to a point where some white Americans have their feelings hurt by black history? Make no mistake about it, they have one goal in mind. Erase black history.

The latest attempt was a parent in my home state of Texas, requesting a book by Michelle Obama to be removed from a Texas school district.

According to Yahoonews.com, a Texas parent argued that a children’s biography about former first lady Michelle Obama is “leftist indoctrination” and demanded that the book be removed from shelves.

Why was it never a problem before for a former 1st lady to have a book on the shelf in a public school? Oh never mind, it’s because she’s black. When y’all start demanding MLK’s books to be removed from schools, all hell is going to break loose.

I wish everyone would just take a breath, calm down, and realize that you or your kid’s feelings won’t be hurt by books being in school libraries.

Racism and slavery are barely even talked about nowadays in the public school system so there isn’t any reason to get worked up.

You always see white parents on the news discussing how their children will have feelings of guilt from discussing slavery and racism.

Have you ever wondered why they aren’t interviewing black parents and asking them the same questions? I guess our thoughts and opinions don’t matter.

Don’t get me started on how anything and everything is labeled as Critical Race Theory, even though it’s a subject taught only in law school.

They say, “those who don’t learn history are doomed to repeat it.” Let’s hope that isn’t what’s on the mind of those people trying to ban books.

The scariest part might be the fact that Republican congressmen and women seem to support these ridiculous antics.

There has always been a small percentage of the population who was a little bit “wacky, ” but the fact that we have U.S. Senators and Congresspeople uttering the same things makes me worried.

Maybe this is all political theatre, and these actions shouldn’t be given much attention. All I know is some people in this country seemed threatened by black people and other people of color.

Those people, unfortunately, represent a bigger percentage of the population than some are willing to admit.

No matter what happens, black people will be alright. We have found a way to move on from slavery to Jim Crow Era to the present day.

If you are an ally of the black community, it’s time to speak out and no longer remain silent. The country needs you more than ever.
