Some Moments In Our Life Must Be Treasured.
In response to Prompt 12/52 of Dancing Elephants Press

We went to visit Arush, Arti, and their family
Arush(Name changed) came regularly to my home and helped us with several things like tech jobs, paying bills, etc. Recently his pregnant wife Arti(Name changed)delivered a premature baby girl. She was only 1 kg 600 gms about 3 pounds in weight and very weak. She was born through a caesarian section procedure.
The baby was very small and was in the ICU for two days. The mother was weak but doing fine.
The doctor discharged the mother and the baby. It was quite surprising that the mother and child should be sent home in such a short while when the baby is premature.
I wanted to go and see the baby but I felt that the baby should grow up a little before I go and visit her.
The baby was 20 days old and had been named. The young mother was keen that I see the baby. Although the father was keen too he did not voice it since he knew that I was a little afraid of visiting such a small baby.
On the 26th day, I along with my friend Sandy went to visit the baby.
What a moment to treasure. I loved the way we were received in their house by the whole family.
Arush’s family consists of a mother, brother, and sister, and their families stayed close to each other in the same vicinity. They lost their father sometime this year.
The whole family came to welcome both of us. Arush’s niece made tea and presented it to us in lovely cups which made us feel at home.
Then we were ushered to a room where the baby and the rest of the family too.
In the above picture, the baby is wrapped in an orange cloth and the whole family is photographed by Arush.
We were astonished by the love showered on us. The baby’s mom had made some special dishes for us. In particular, in India, we have kheer which is rice pudding was served to us as it was dessert on the occasion of the birth of the baby. The nieces too had made some wonderful dishes.
The baby was so light and small but was now 2kg and a little over but still very small. They honored us by giving the baby to us to hold and one by one we just blessed the baby. Arush took some pictures of us all.
Then one by one many wonderful dishes were served to us.
The family was not satisfied because they felt we ate too little and we found the helping very generous.
Each one of the family members was introduced to us while we ate the special dishes and we were honored and made very special by the family.
While saying our goodbye everyone folded their hands and wished us respect.
Wait this is not all……
A week later the baby was one month old and Arush went to my friend Sandy’s home and came to mine.
What did he bring for us?

This painting above 👆🏼Arush’s niece made for me and likewise, one was delivered to Sandy. What amazing artwork and such an honor to receive a framed painting.
It now occupies a favored position in my study. I look up at it and enjoy the calm scenery and think that I am sitting on the seashore and enjoying the light breeze.

Arush also brought a packet full of tasty Bihari dishes for us.
(The family belongs to the state of Bihar in India.)They were Sattu paranthas, kheer, and a vegetable (bharta.)
The last two days I ate this food for my dinner, breakfast, and lunch. You can imagine how well it was cooked and how much was the quantity.
What I learned
Love has no boundaries and you find it from unexpected sources. Open yourself to possibilities and there is a life beyond which needs to be explored.
We all have moments that we enjoy and do not want to ever forget it. These are moments that we treasure.
The visit to Arush’s house with my friend Sandy was a great event for both of us.
Often Sandy and I share a special feeling for the family and how well they treated us and respected us.
To wrap up
Blessings to the baby and a lot of love to the young couple and their family who gave us the most delightful moments to be treasured and remembered.
The family inspired me with their love and affection and wonderful welcome.
