Sky and Trees, Light and Patterns
Artistic and poetic glimpses of the dynamic world above us

A walk in nature on an overcast February afternoon results in photographs to preserve the memories and poetry to honor the wonder.
Lie on your back Under the trees. Look at the sky Through nourishing leaves. You are witnessing a true story.

From down here, up there is within reach. Arms and legs, Limbs and trunks. Hands and feet, Brainwaves and treetops.

Wind whistles But trees are whistlers. Deep roots Beneath you, Unsung and unseen

To Earth-Bound lifeforms Sky sometimes Looks like ice, Strong limbs And soothing greenery Look like visible land.

Nest blends in with neighborhood. This neighborhood is a good one.

Walk out on a limb For the sheer joy of pure possibility. Feel the limb support you Even as brown leaves Flutter downward.

The trees express themselves With presence. Even in stillness, Growth.

Find patterns in the bends, Clues in the curves. Interpret nature’s message In the minutiae of twigs.

When gazing overhead, Remember that trees Also grow beneath you, Under and within The same ground That supports your every step.

Trees tell us of a time When there was no need for alarm As the light returned.

The intricacies of simplicity Inspire complex wonder Not confined to the human heart.
