Sickness-Cancer: Does God Give Cancer to This Child? Part 1

I was told to thank the doctors and nurses and not my imaginary friend, my Creator.

“I believe that for every illness or ailment known to man, God has a plant out here that will heal it. We just need to keep discovering the properties of natural healing.” Vannoy Gentles Fite,

While strolling through Instagram, I read about an eight-year-old child who has a rare form of brain cancer and he survived. Prayers came from everywhere and his family was thankful for his recovery. I, on the other hand, wrote a prayer of thanksgiving to God for this child’s complete healing.

I was told to thank the doctors and nurses and not my imaginary friend.

“What!” my instincts explode.

Does God put cancer on children? No.

No one asked for a rebuttal.

What, should I have said thank the doctor and nurse for the child’s healing?

I appreciate that God uses them as his hands and eyes. They are instruments and the channel through which he works, but they are not God to heal. Healing is up to God. We pray and lift our faith, and when we come together as a people in agreement, it is up to God to deliver or do as He pleases.

The Bible says “One plant, one water, but God gives the increase.” It is God who has the final say when it comes to our healing or no healing at all.

One person responded to me that it was God who put cancer on this child and where was God when this child got cancer?

God was right there, and cancer or sickness knows no bounds. They do not pick and choose where or whom to rest on.

I am going to be blunt, all the sicknesses and diseases we experience in this life have a root, and that root is in Sin. It stems from Adam and Eve’s disobedience in the Garden of Eden.

Our foreparent disobeyed the specific command of God when He placed them in the Garden of Eden. He told them not to eat from a specific tree, but Eve disobeyed when she was beguiled by the serpent, and she brought some to Adam.

It was God who gave the command expecting it to be obeyed. Think of the Garden of Eden as your household. You are running it, praying, and being watchful, but you stopped being vigilant and obedient, so the enemy comes in. If you were doing what was expected of you, and not being complacent, then the enemy would not come in and deceive you too.

You took what she brought to you and gladly part-take of it. You didn’t even take responsibility for the part you played, you blamed her, the woman. So don’t disrespect my faith and obedience to God. That is already tainted by sin.

As a woman of faith, the Bible tells me that all the atrocities human beings experience are the consequences of sin- Adam and Eve… Healing comes through various avenues, divine healing, and through surgery. However, if it pleases God not to heal it's his business too, not ours. He is not a Yes man to our every beck and call.

You might not agree with me, but the scripture reminds me that offence will come.

But I am strong in my faith.

What is sickness and where does sickness come from?

Did God put sickness on people?

Diseases and various health problems have been around for centuries since the fall of man. I believe that all sickness and disease are a result of the fall of man in the Garden of Eden. It took me a long time to understand that we get sick because we are a part of the human race.

The sickness came to the planet because of the fall of man, and there was no sickness in the Garden of Eden before the fall. Many people believe that God is responsible for our ailments, diseases, and the ugliness that is in society. I don’t think he is.

I want to challenge our thinking and raise the level of our faith. That will happen as we look at the origin of sickness and disease and the provision God has made.

Where do sickness and disease come from anyway? What does the does the Bible say? According to research, some sickness is a result of the fall of man.

In John 9:2–3 the disciples asked Jesus “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” Jesus says “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life.”

According to gospelcoalition.com, “sickness is a part and parcel of life in a broken and fallen world. It’s part of the fallout from our collective rebellion against God, and in that sense is indiscriminate.” (St. John 9:1–3).
