She-Wolf, Me-Wolf

A poem.

Photo by Marek Szturc on Unsplash

I close my eyes to drift off to sleep and a wolf appeared she looked at me and then loped off but turned around to see if I was following and so I did

we started off walking then trotting then running fast across plains over mountains through fields of flowers forests dense til we reached the desert and we kept galloping through the sand until I got tired

she slowed down and waited for me panting I reached her then reached into her and I turned into her I turned into the wolf I am the wolf the wolf is me

I can see very far and hear sounds in another frequency my paws massive my jaws ferocious I can crush bones I am a force of nature I am power beyond galaxies

I wait for the sun to set and the moon to come out moonbeams zap me invigorate me energize me I have no fear fearless am I

and then instinctually I find my cave and curl up in a circle and fall back to sleep

knowing that I can step into myself know myself love myself anytime I want
