jaguar dream
a poem
last night in my dreams a black jaguar painted with white spots appeared
“follow me,” he said and so I did
we roamed the jungle floor shadows in the moonlight then flew over treetops becoming the clouds
wordlessly breathlessly fearlessly invisible yet visible we traveled together
he showed me how the animals play in the darkness all the beasts I yearned to see come out at night
the capybara, the world’s largest rodent the tapir, with his funny nose vipers, who like the hot springs caiman, at the river’s edge
as the first shimmers of light appeared it was time to go home and say goodbye to my jaguar friend and guide
but first he whispered in my ear he spoke without speaking yet I heard him and understood
remember the life outside of you is the life within you when you are in the jungle you are the jungle remember your self
and then and then I woke up
and started a new dream of this glorious day
here’s more of my life in the Amazon jungle:
