Whitney Wolfe Herd, the co-founder of Tinder and founder and CEO of Bumble, has created not only one of the world’s most popular dating apps but also one of the few major tech companies led by a woman. Julia Hartz, co-founder and CEO of Eventbrite, and Emily Weiss, founder and CEO of Glossier, have likewise disrupted traditional industries, pushing boundaries and challenging norms.

These women didn’t simply break the glass ceiling; they shattered it. They forged a path in male-dominated industries, persisting through rejection and defying stereotypes.

Empowering the Next Generation

The narrative needs to change if we wish to see more success stories like these. Instead of seeing women entrepreneurs as anomalies, we need to normalize and celebrate their achievements. This starts with education and support systems.

Programs like Goldman Sachs’ 10,000 Women, Tory Burch Foundation’s Capital Program, and other similar initiatives around the globe provide education, mentorship, and capital to female entrepreneurs. They’re working to redress the balance and empower the next generation of women entrepreneurs.

How You Can Make a Difference

You might be wondering, “What can I do?” You can play a critical role in shattering the glass ceiling. How? By recognizing and acknowledging unconscious bias, supporting women-owned businesses, advocating for female entrepreneurs in your workplace, and mentoring women in your field.
