Share the Love — Issue 3

Not just a single marshmallow now

Photo by Jass Sama from Pexels

Welcome to the third issue. There is something about a campfire that brings out the sharing in people. I used to run an outdoor centre for young people and the campfire was always the centre of attention. Not only for them though, as when they were snuggled in their tents, the staff would continue the experience.

I have to say I am amazed how this is starting to take off. So it's time to up the game a little and gets your views on the start of some extras.

Join me around the cyber campfire and let's share some poetry

I've changed the prompts, but not going to tell you how. You'll have to scroll down and find out.

Would you like our own Share The Love (Poetry) Facebook page or dare I say it a publication? I would be interested to hear your views on that. Please take the time to comment below. I have included a Google vote thingy.

So how's your week been? Mine has been kind of fun. I wrote a poem which is slightly political 😉 and not only got thrown in curation jail, but I think they also threw away the key 😂😂😂. Had to do an emergency edit (with some help!) as it was being read wrong. Never mind. Link is here if you want tips on how not to be curated in under 30 minutes.

I can't possibly read every bit of poetry on medium. So if you find a piece or you have your own piece you would like considered, why not share them in response.

If you missed the last edition…

“Share the Love” Rules

To keep this going we need some basic rules. Simple easy ones to keep the sharing going.

  1. Have a read of all the poetry on here.
  2. Clap for each one and respond. Include “seen on Share The Love Issue 2 by Martin Rushton” Don’t forget to tag me. Or use #seenonstl

See! Said it was simple.

My three new pieces, chosen for you.

Ten Poems I’ve read and absolutely love.

There are just so many fantastic poems too read. I really wish I could just list every single one.

These are ones that just stood out to me for various reasons, have a look as there is some amazing work out there.

I will keep looking and keep reading as many poems as I possibly can. I can say though I haven’t seen one that shouldn’t be on my list. Keep up the amazing work. I wish I could write the way you do!

Clap for each one and respond. Include “seen on Share The Love Issue 3 by Martin Rushton” Don’t forget to tag me or use #seenonstl

If you are lucky enough to be included below feel free to share the love and spread the word.

'Go on, I Dare Ya! Do a Prompt

Why not shake those brain cells up a little and have a go at one of the prompts. Or have a go at all of them if you are feeling brave. So you don't feel left out I also do the prompts.

All prompts will be added into the prompt page below. But as from next week, I will also link in on here my favourite one on each section. No pressure!

Prompt 1. "Under Pressure"

For this, you need to write a poem in any form and include the three words below. However, the poem must be 100 words or more!

“Earthborn, Guru, Moonbeam”

Prompt 2. "I'm Turning Japanese"

You guessed it! Write a haiku using one word from prompt 1.

Prompt 3. "If music be the food of love..."

For all you budding artists out there. Time to write your very own parody. Each week I will pick a random year and you have to choose a hit and turn it into a parody.

This week the year is 1976

Don’t forget to include at the bottom of your poem “A prompt from Share The Love Issue 2 by Martin Rushton, tag me or use #Stlprompt

Rather than pick my favourite prompts from Issue 2, here all of them.

As prompts are received they are added to the prompt page. Issue 3’s prompt page is here for you. Bookmark it and come back to see.

Share the love readers — click on them and check out their fantastic work 🤠

Respond if you wish to be added as a reader.
