Share The Love 10

Not so serious!

Image by Susann Mielke from Pixabay

Rushing around! Where has the fun gone? Lockdown was great, you could get so much done and still have time to play. Now I’m trying to work, keep up to date with reading every piece published on STL and find new pieces. Throw in some family time too and now we need a 48 hour day.

I’m not sure if I missed the memo about writing, but it seems everyone has gone a little too serious. It doesn’t mean the quality has gone down though because I’m still finding amazing poetry every day.

I still need to write. I have loads of prompts to do and writer's block has set in. The Rude Poet needs to make a return.

Prompt Winners — James G Brennan & Imad

Now I don’t normally do this but, this time I had too. Both of these pieces win a feature page for a year.

James G Brennan is one of the early STL writers. He has attacked every prompt thrown at him and I have had the pleasure of watching the writing get better and better.

Imad is a new writer to STL. He certainly went for it with the rebel outlaw prompt. The Title drew me straight in and the poetry didn’t let the title down.

Ten Poems I’ve read and absolutely love.

There are so many fantastic poems to read. I really wish I could list every single one. Trouble was I started the never-ending poem, which after three weeks is still going!

So this week the top ten is dedicated to some of those prompts that appeared.

If you are lucky enough to be included below feel free to share the love and spread the word.

Fiction

Our fiction sections are Micro-Fiction (300 words or less), Flash-Fiction (1000 words or less), and Short-Stories (1000 to 1500 words). Note we cap our word count at 1500 words. Please make sure if you submit to these you use the standard Medium tags.

I’m no expert at writing fiction. If you look at my profile it is mainly poetry. Some of our writers are already fiction writers. Alex Kilcannon has written an excellent piece on how to write flash fiction. If you want to get into it then have a read.

Also, she writes a monthly blog about her favourite fiction finds. So I’d rather support her finds than list a whole load of new ones. So make sure you support these fantastic fiction writers too.

‘Go on, I Dare Ya! Do a Prompt’

Well, I said it was getting a little too serious. So, ladies and gentlemen, it is time to have a little fun!

Get the pens out and start writing those rib ticklers, engage those funny bones and by-pass the clavicle and go straight for the humerus.

Your prompt is Laughter is the Best Medicine.
