Sending Love in a Letter

How to slow down our pace in life

“The act of writing itself is like an act of love. There is contact. There is exchange too. We no longer know whether the words come out of the ink onto the page, or whether they emerge from the page itself where they were sleeping, the ink merely giving them colour.” ― Georges Rodenbach, The Bells of Bruges

For the past few months, I have communicated with loved ones through the art of handwritten letters, cards, and care packages. Right now, there are many quicker ways to send love. In an instant, you can send a text or email. However, they do not touch the heart in the same way.

I believe that when we slow down enough to put pen to paper, we can send a message of love that transcends time.

On my 100-day journey exploring habits, routines, I want to talk about how to thank someone. From a young age, I was taught to always thank someone with a handwritten note.

It is a tradition in my family. I have a dear cousin who writes the best notes. She always goes into great detail about why she loves the gifts you have given her. I treasure those notes!

There are some people who are very close to me I love dearly. Especially this year, we have found some things we do not see eye to eye on.

However, I love them with all of my heart and want them to know that I appreciate everything I learned from them. Today I am going to write a thank-you note. It is not for a gift I received, but just because I want to express my appreciation.

I want to develop a new habit of sending a thank you note each week to someone who has positively touched my life.

As I prepare to write my first note today, I want to write a letter here for all of you. I appreciate everyone that reads my work because we are all growing together.

Dear Reader,

You are loved for who you are. Just by being here, you are radiating a light that helps guide others.

Thank you for being here with me. I appreciate your creativity, openness, and friendship. You are a treasure to behold.

Always be who you are. By being you, you open the door for others to do the same. By being brave and putting your heart on the line, you encourage us all.

Your daily work is to be a light for others. You are here to do something nobody else can.

Never doubt the power of your creativity. Shine bright, so we all may see your heart.

Sending you love,

Trista

If you would like to receive a thank you note from me, please email me your address at [email protected], and I will put you on my list. I look forward to thanking you for your creativity and friendship!
