Learn How to Add to Your Conversation

Creative Writing — Adding to Your Conversation

We are familiar with television shows that are adding new storylines in additional episodes over a season. Those are shows that get renewed. We usually look forward to watching each week and starting the new season to continue watching. We follow the storylines and events happening to the characters.

Depending on your preferences, some of the shows have continued for years. Those that canceled can be a disappointment to us if we enjoyed the storyline and wanted to see and hear more.

Once that show has gone off the air as a regular, we can watch reruns of our favorite episode or the entire season. Popular shows are available to purchase by the season on DVDs. We then are viewing in the leisure of our own homes.

These shows are examples of added conversations over the year(s).

A book is another example of a conversation that moves from one chapter to the next. Think of each chapter as a new TV episode as you read.

When you start to write, you can see your writing as a creative conversation where you share information with the person you are talking to or reading your story.

Put your titles of each chapter as if they are parts of the conversation and build each chapter with the additional information about the conversation you have added. ~M J McDonald

It can be an easy way to begin, continue, and finish what you want to write. Break your story down into these smaller pieces. Think of it as a conversation you add to each additional chapter.
