Your ideas about money are a huge part of what keeps you living from paycheck to paycheck. You probably think it’s your job, the economic circumstances around you, the pandemic, your family, your divorce, your lack of education, the rigged system, etc. The list goes on.

All these are valid, but if you’re consistently struggling with finances, an entire belief system (s) has brought you to where you’re at. Unless you change it, it will keep you where you’re at even if you did strike the lottery, your family structure changes, and the pandemic is over.

This struggle is real and is not related to income — yes, even people with good incomes struggle with money issues.

Money Blocks and How to Turn Them Around

Your beliefs must change, followed by aligned action to truly transform your circumstances. Below are the seven ideas standing in the way of your wealth. Which ones plague your mind?

It’s a rigged system.

There is more money in this world than you can imagine. Yes, I can already hear you say, “yes, it’s only for the lucky few.” As long as you believe that, it will remain in the hands of ‘the lucky few.’

Solution: Question your beliefs.

You can spend the rest of your life proving that the system’s rigged or focusing on what is working in your life for you. Most people who are wealthy did not start that way. They just found a way to work in the system. It does not mean they ‘sold out’ etc. It just means they focused on what they had to offer and how to make it work.

What will my friends think of me?

Maybe, you don’t want to be part of the lucky few because you’ll be in a different circle of friends. You’ve spent so much time complaining about how rich people’ suck’ and how the systems rigged, heaven forbid you to move onto the other side! Now, what will your friends think? Real friends stay with you no matter how your circumstances change-whether you’re rich or poor.

Whether you’d like to believe this or not, you are the average of the five people you spend most of your time with — this ‘average’ I am referring to includes your net worth, the quality of your relationships, and your mindset.

Solution: Expand your circle of friends.

Want more money? Hang out with people who know how to make it and grow it! Whether you’d like to believe this or not, your friends greatly influence how you think. If you want to change your way of thinking, start by spending time with people who embody a different way of thinking.

I’m not good with money.

Hey, I’m not good at cooking, but I still need to eat! Believing that you can’t manage money will stop you from accumulating it.

Solution: Learn how to manage your finances.

There are countless books and courses on financial literacy. There’s no excuse for anyone not to know how to handle their money well. Start to take an interest in it. You can learn anything that interests you. Become a badass at making money!

I grew up poor.

Well, so did Oprah! Who happens to be one of the richest women in the world. And so did thousands of successful people all over the world. Most rich people came from humble backgrounds. And it’s this that motivated them to strive for a better life.

If your identity is closely tied to poverty, you’ll remain that way for as long as you embrace it. So, even if you struck the lottery, you’d lose the money as quickly as you got it because you’re not comfortable with that much money. After all, it goes against your poverty mindset.

Solution: Start by seeing yourself in a different light.

Would it be too much of a stretch to picture yourself with an income 50% more than what you’re earning? Feel what it would be like to be that person with a higher income. Then ask yourself, “what would it take to increase my income by 50%?” and listen to what emerges from within.

I don’t need much.

Many people who struggle with not having enough money are unhappy about it. They say they would like more money but add a caveat ‘I don’t need much.’ And then they’re surprised that they don’t have much. Well, they said they don’t need much, so that’s what they’re going to attract — not much!

Solution: Change your language!

Never underestimate the power of your words. You will attract what you say! If more money is what you would like to draw into your life, start saying things that match your desire.

Do not say what you don’t want; why am I always poor?” or “why is there never enough?” Because those are the circumstances, you will continue to attract.

It may be too much of a stretch for you to take a leap and say, “I have enough money,” if you don’t believe it. Try saying instead, “I believe I am moving towards greater abundance.” But even if you don’t feel like you can attract abundance, stop saying, “I don’t have money!”

It’s too much effort.

There is a prevailing belief that it takes a lot of work and effort to make money. Yet, we see many people who work their a$$es off and are poor. And there are people where it appears that anything they touch turns to gold.

Some of us struggle, and some have a knack for success. Don’t get me wrong. I am not saying to sit and do nothing, and the money will fall into your lap.

Solution: Take inspired action.

Instead of working hard, learn to work smart. More importantly, do work that inspires you. Maybe that inspiration will get you to start a blog. Money comes from a place of inspiration and receptivity. Become the master at your job or launch your own business. Keep an open mind. And keep learning.

I don’t deserve to be wealthy.

One of the most common money blocks is that people believe they don’t deserve money. This comes on the back of the belief you’re not smart enough, too lazy, or have the wrong background. Whatever the reason, this is a significant money block.

We all know people who we feel don’t deserve the money they have. Maybe they were blessed with a silver spoon in their mouth. You’ll judge yourself and subconsciously reject opportunities for money to present itself if you judge them.

Change your ideas

If you want to see more money, start by seeing money in a different light. To do this, you need to become aware of your beliefs about money — many of which you may have inherited from your family, community, and society.

If you’re avoiding implementing healthy financial habits, it could be because you have deeply held beliefs about money that keep you broke. You can think and grow rich! But it does take faith and a compelling desire to change.

Listen to what you say about money, take an interest in learning how to grow wealth. And stop saying things that prevent you from attracting money. Finally, remember to be receptive to how the funds will show up in your life-you deserve it!
