Abstract

The website presents a narrative titled "Secrets of a Lust-Filled Night," which centers around Lucy, a character who has found herself in a precarious situation involving a pregnancy test and a complicated relationship with a man named Liam and his girlfriend, Scarlett. The story is an example of a "drabble," a concise form of fiction that consists of exactly 100 words. The author, Nancy Oglesby, challenges readers to participate in the "77 Random Word Drabble Challenge," where each day a new word is given as a prompt for writers to craft their own short stories. The website also acknowledges contributors and invites readers to explore more drabbles and support the writers involved in the challenge.

Sometimes, you need to know

Today’s random word is Lucky.

Because drabbles are short, please consider staying on this page for at least 30 seconds. I’d love to know you were here. 💕

Lucy raced home from the drugstore with the paper bag clutched against her, praying she was lucky and wouldn’t bump into anyone she knew.

How would she explain the pregnancy test or Liam or Liam’s girlfriend?

The union wasn’t supposed to happen, but that’s what happens when late nights, parties, and alcohol collide.

She had picked the best brand, the test with the highest accuracy rating, and Lucy would soon learn the results.

Entering the house, she slinked past two mothers to the bathroom where Liam’s girlfriend waited. Scarlett’s hand was outstretched, and her period was nowhere to be found.

Remember to visit Fiction Shorts often daily so you don’t miss my daily drabbles and those of other deserving drabblers.

Nancy Oglesby writes, “If you are unfamiliar with a drabble, it is a fiction story of exactly 100 words.”

To make the challenge more interesting, each day, she gives a random word prompt.

Don’t miss out on today’s drabble.

If you’re looking for this month’s prompts, Fiction Short’s got you covered.
